In October 2007 Thermaltake announced that they were working on the sixth edition of the Xaser series. The latest release builds on the success of past models, and includes items such as a removable motherboard tray, 10 expansion slots, a tool-free design, Aluminum construction, e-SATA connectors, and many other features.

It was many months ago that ThermalTake released their first PSUs, these were good enough for them to start gaining a strong reputation in this highly competitive market. Today we will take a look at their affordable, mid-range PSU, the ToughPower 500W. The ToughPower 500W is a modular and silent PSU, but is it good enough to compete in the wide spanning but budget minded mid-range market?

SATA may be an interface that supports hot swap, but in reality, how often is it truly taken advantage of and used for the purpose of hot swapping? More than often, it's no more than just an array of disks residing inside our computers that ends up rarely moved. For an external interface, eSATA is nice and all for its performance, but to an extent that's really an extension of an internal storage medium to external hard drives -- hot swap is necessary as what's that made USB so popular, but it doesn't really solve the problem of having a need to go through a bunch of internal SATA hard drives quickly. For example, some users need it for testing hard drives, while others want to quickly pull some data off a drive without installing it in another computer. As far as I'm concerned, there's one product in the market that has gained immense popularity and tons of internet hype that allows you to quickly swap internal SATA hard drives without ripping anything apart to get the job done. And that's the Thermaltake BlacX, an HDD docking station. Let's see how it gets its job done, and to what extent it has done well.

It's difficult to ascertain the value and the worth of 1,500W - while Thermaltake makes the only one worth buying for far less than the very few competitors sell for, the value of 1,500W is certainly questionable. Even if we wanted to kit out the baddest rig under the sun, we'd still opt for other units on the market. After all, if you think you need one you're already splashing out several grand for the best hardware on the planet, so at least complement it with something that's as super high end.

Thermaltake has now carried that same patented design over into the processor realm with its DuOrb CPU Cooler. Utilizing twin 80mm fans just as the VGA Cooler did, this time surrounded by six copper heatpipes rather than two and both an inner aluminum fin and outer copper fin configuration, the DuOrb CPU Cooler takes advantage of the wide wingspan of the DuOrb design to cool not only the processor but also the memory and surrounding socket area.

ThinkComputers loves ThermalTake's lines of cooling supplies and cases. The company is known for its "think of everything" packaging and subtle stylishness of its products. ThermalTake provided ThinkComputers with a 650W version of its new ToughPower QFan line of power supply units. We expected this power supply to sputter when connected to our enthusiast-level gaming rig-the results of our testing are in the review.

Thermaltake is one company that is hard to stay on top of. In the M9 case review last month, I mentioned how it seems like there is always something new coming from those folks. Well here to prove me right is the latest offering in the Xaser class full tower, the VI VG4000 series. Thermaltake calls the Xaser VI a Super Tower, and if the box is any indication of its size, I'd say they're right.

The Thermaltake DuOrb is a sharp looking, well performing cooler that should fit in just about any mid tower and up, and some mini towers. At the $65 price point this could be considered a high-end air cooler. It's quiet, light weight, good looking, and a breeze to install. It kept up with the NV-120 really well, which says lot for the cooler...

The Thermaltake BlacX is a neat little USB-based hard drive docking station that fills a gap left vacant by removable hard drive racks and external hard drive enclosure systems. The small black box is free standing, but does require a DC power supply to function. It supports a single 3.5" SATA desktop or 2.5" SATA notebook hard drive at a time. Data is transferred to the computer via a 480Mbps USB 2.0 cable included in the package.

For my first venture into water I learned a lot, and the main thing is that it?s not nearly as hard or complicated as I thought. That may be due to the Thermaltake Bigwater 760i kit, but either way the whole process was very easy. It took all of 30 minutes to do the pre-install and fill the system, the long part was the bleeding the air from the system and leak test. I chose to do this out of the case for the fact it was easier to fill the tank and work the bubbles out of the lines. That and the nagging thought of a leak...
