SilverStone sent us their Kublai 01 chassis, aimed at enthusiasts that require a finely balanced system with cooling and quietness but without the extra features from the flagship Temjin series chassis. KLO 1 features traditional interior layout, but it is highly organized and tuned for quiet operation and effective cooling.

Out of all of the cases I've had, I don't have to stop and think which one was my favorite. Hands down, the case I liked the most was a Silverstone Temjin TJ-05, the original model. It is big and beautiful, and I used words in my review like elegant and regal about it. It was the first large case I owned, the first with twin 120mm fans, the first that would hold more than three hard drives (it will hold seven), and a few other firsts for me. I still like it today as much as I did in 2003 when I reviewed it. I have had three different rigs in it, and I will undoubtedly use it again someday, unlike the other 6 or so unused cases that accompany it in my shed. So it stands that I feel Silverstone builds a fine case, along with their other fine products, which includes enclosures, power supplies, and cooling solutions. Will the KL01 live up to my expectations for quality and innovation? We'll see.

SilverStone has been producing amazing cases for a while, but for some, their best offerings are pricey. That's where the Kublai series comes into play. Built on the essence of the higher-end models, they attempt to pack quite a punch with their Kublai, all at an affordable price. Have they succeeded?

Mid-tower ATX cases have come a long way from their early beginnings as plain, beige boxes that collected dust under office desks. Most enthusiasts want to show them off and some make them the centerpiece of their workstations. One case that recently hit store shelves is the KL01 from Silverstone. The KL01 is a hybrid consisting of a steel chassis and aluminum panels, but it's design is very unique and should appeal to classier and sophisticated users.
