This little flash device is a great rival to the latest iPod nano - it's just a shame about the poor software...

There are so many various products in the market of audio players that it's rather hard to surprise consumers. Manufacturers usually try to attract users with new features, which in their turn raise product costs. Creative decided differently - to stir up the market of portable audio equipment by launching a budget Zen Stone instead of an expensive device with advanced features.

While the Creative ZEN Stone lacks features found on most MP3 players, you will be hard-pressed to find another quality player for $40 bucks.

Thus, with these being more or less identical products, Creative has gone down the only path available: making it cheap. Currently the Zen Stone retails at around £30, making it more than £20 cheaper than the iPod Shuffle which can be bought for in the region of £55. For two products that share identical features this is a significant saving, and Creative's effort doesn't lack any style either.

Creative's latest digital audio player is featherlight and really small. Like the iPod shuffle, it also lacks a display screen but touts a few advantages that easily makes it a must-have, even if you already have an MP3 player.
