Pioneer Japan announces new BDR-X13J-X external BD Writer and BDR-WX01DM for archiving

Optical Storage Nov 21,2023 0

Pioneer Japan soon will release the BDR-X13J-X, a premium model of an external BD/DVD/CD writer for Windows/Mac that uses a USB 3.2 Gen1/2.0 interface. In addition to using high-quality components unique to premium models, this unit also features a machined aluminum insulator and a noise filter structure for the power circuit, achieving high audio quality and quietness. The design also features a rubber coating on the exterior, a smoked acrylic front bezel that reflects blue light, and copper-colored line accents on the hairline-finished tray cover to create a high-quality feel. In addition, functions for enjoying music on a PC include "PureRead 4+" that faithfully reads audio CD data, "RealTime PureRead" that reduces the frequency of data interpolation in real time, and "Audio CD check" function. It is also equipped with Furthermore, it supports high-precision 16x speed recording on BD-R, which is unique to Pioneer drives, as well as recording and playback on BDXL discs. Pioneer suggests using their own branded media BD-R 25GB disc "IPS-BD11J series" that uses a unique metal nitride recording layer, Metal Ablative Recording Layer (MABL). Because recording marks are formed using a melting (ablation) method, it is more stable than existing phase change materials and is suitable for long-term storage.

More information about the drive is available at https://jpn.pioneer/ja/pcperipherals/bdd/products/bdr-x13j-x/?ad=pr

In addition Pioneer Japan announced that will introduce to the market the CD/DVD/CD writer "BDR-WX01DM" and the Pioneer BD-R disc "IPS-BD11J03P" that are compatible with the JIS X6257 standard and can be stored for over 100 years. It also complies with the newly established international standard ISO/IEC 18630. Compliance with this international standard, which stipulates how to determine the quality of optical discs for long-term data storage and how to operate long-term storage systems, improves the reliability of recording quality when storing data. Additionally, in addition to the existing Windows application, Pioneer will release a disk recording application called "DM Archiver"' for macOS, making this model available to even more people. There is no information about price and worldwide availability, maybe in the future we can test how this new drive/technology works.
