A year or two ago Foxconn were the rising stars of the motherboard world. Having shown the enthusiasts that they were here to stay Foxconn moved onto graphics cards and once again have hit hard into the high end market with a wide range of GPUs on offer. Today I have their 8800GTX which has all the speed of the other manufacturers models, but with a packaging and cooler that our older readers would probably describe as "Cosmic". Read on to find out if its performance is as "Far out" as its packaging.

The brand-new N570SM2AA-8EKRS2H motherboard from the company Foxconn reminds on the recently awarded C51XEM2AA-8EKRS2H motherboard. However, the current pendant with a nForce 570 SLI chipset is more inexpensive and offers a better equipment. Unfortunately this board is not as well overclockable, but the results are still very nice
compared to the 25 previously tested AMD Athlon 64 motherboards!

By now you should have seen the performance of a GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB. Now what if we told you there's a faster, overclocked version of that available? Interested to know more? Read on as we give the lowdown on Foxconn's GeForce 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked Edition.

Bottom line - a well-executed GeForce 8800 GTS 320MiB package from Foxconn that's only compromised, we feel, by a slightly high price.

Off the shelf, the Foxconn G9657MA-8KS2H comes with the "-8KS2H" feature set; 8 for 8-channel High Definition 'Azalia' audio, K for dual Gigabit LAN, S for plenty of Serial ATA II hard drive support, 2 for DDR-2 and H because this slab of solder and circuits is RoHS compliant. A closer examination reveals five internal SATAII channels, one external (eSATA) jack for external data storage devices, eight 480Mbps USB2.0 ports. The Foxconn G9657MA-8KS2H motherboard is a prime example of what Foxconn can do.

One problem at the moment is that the card isn't available to purchase and current pricing estimates indicate that the card will cost around £350 including VAT. At this price, Foxconn's overclocked GeForce 8800 GTS sits right in between BFGTech's 8800 GTS (at around £300 including VAT) and a slew of GeForce 8800 GTX cards that come in for just under £400. This the card's major downfall because unless you don't want to overclock one of the cheaper 8800 GTS's (like the one from BFGTech) or you can't afford to spend an extra £50 on a considerably faster video card, this isn't the card for you. If you're looking for a bargain-basement GeForce 8800 GTS, Palit's card is available for less than £260 including VAT. While we haven't tested that card (and thus can't make a solid recommendation to buy it), it does make Foxconn's FV-N88SMBD2-ONOC all the more expensive.

With the sea of massive dual slot graphics cards out there, one would think that high performance graphics cards had to have monster heatsinks as a pre-requisite. However, FOXCONN has shown us that this is definitely not the case. The slim profile of this 7950GT based video card shows that it can be done on a diet.

The thing that is different with the Foxconn 8800 GTX is the bundle. Most of the 8800 GTX cards don't include anything with them as far as extras or software. Foxconn includes a nice USB game pad, VirtualDrive v10 and RestoreIT v7.0. The addition of a USB game pad was a nice touch as was the other software, but I would rather see a nice current game title included in the bundle, but that is nit picky considering none of the other 8800 GTX cards I have reviewed to date include anything in the bundle much less three items.

Foxconn really has outdone themselves with the offering of the 975X7AB. The performance and overclockability of the board are outstanding and the customer support is first class. This board certainly was not a "Dog" but a Fox to be desired. What more could you ask for in a board?

MicroATX motherboards are unfortunately often less overclockable than ATX boards and are partially a nightmare regarding the overclock options. The Test of the current Foxconn WinFast MCP61SM2MA-ERS2H motherboard will clarify,
whether this inexpensive board is an exception. Moreover the Review shows, whether the integrated GF6100 onBoard graphics solution is fast enough for current 3D games and if the board also has enough features to satisfy power users.

I don't have much anything negative to say about the G9657MA-8KS2H and how could I? The specifications and feature list is as long as a full size motherboard, the performance seems to be on par with its older brother the P965x chipset as well as the 975x chipset, and the price is something that will not hurt many people. The G9657MA-8KS2H is almost like a full sized motherboard squeezed into a m-ATX form factor complete with the m-ATX price tag.

While VIA hasn't been able to take the performance crown from the chipset giant nVidia, it doesn't mean they have stopped their production of chipsets. It has been some time since anything VIA has hit out shores here at TweakTown and today we are going to give the first board we have here based on the K8T890 chipset a real going over. Today we test Foxconn's K8T890M2AA-KRS2H and compare it against the nForce 570 chipset to see just what this chipset does have on offer. Is VIA back in business? We'll find out shortly!
