The Foxconn A690GM2MA 8KRS2H MicroATX motherboard offers with the new AMD 690G chipset an onboard graphics solution with DVI and Sub-D VGA ouput, as well as internal TV-Out connection. The ATI Radeon 1200 series is by far not comparable with current PCIe video cards, however it offers sufficient performance for office applications and thanks to the provided Microsoft Windows Vista drivers it's possible to build an inexpensive Vista based PC platform. There're some deficits regarding overclocking, but this shouldn't be essential to build a HTPC. All strengths and weaknesses of the new A690GM2MA-8KRS2H motherboard are shown in the following test report ...

Foxconn goes with the typical overclocking route in order to win your favor with its latest mid-range graphics card based on the NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT. Does it succeed in convincing us to give the thumbs up? Read about our experience here.

We've got the full review of the Foxconn P35A right here with benchmark and overclocking numbers. This budget board is great for those looking for a simple, yet effective gaming platform with good graphics performance, CrossFire capability and high overclocking. Watch out for the pitfalls inside.

Foxconn's P35A is in all ways an introductory budget offering based on the new Intel P35 chipset. However, it does come with a full set of features that includes dual PCIe x16 slots for CrossFire capabilities, an unusual implementation for a low-end board no doubt. Check out our preview right here.

We can now publish numbers on a chipset that we saw liberally paraded at this year's CeBIT show in March. We'll answer such pressing questions as whether it's a worthy upgrade from incumbent P965, how it compares to NVIDIA's nForce 680i SLI and 680i LT, and the meaning of life (OK, not the last one).

Nvidia's high-end cards have been out for already months, but only recently they launched their middle price range of the 8-series cards. The fastest of the new cards is 8600GTS, the second is 8600GT and then there's the 8500GT. The family also contains Geforce 8400 and 8300 cards, but those are only available for OEM manufacturers.

Since the nForce 680i LT SLI release, you have to have something pretty damn special from a full fat nForce 680i SLI motherboard to justify the cost and Foxconn just doesn't quite have it here. It does have a very stable motherboard which is a somewhat rare commodity these days, but from an enthusiast chipset, Foxconn is only half way there supplying enthusiast performance but not enthusiast overclocking.

The good news is that the Foxconn 8600 GTS is one of the lowest priced 8600 GTS cards and can be found online from $189. Foxconn also bundles a couple utilities with their Foxconn 8600 GTS graphics cards, one of the applications is VirtualDrive v10 and the other is RestoreIT v7.

There are many Geforce 8600GTS models to pick from, and to be honest these videocards are virtually all re-branded nVidia reference cards. This is good, it ensures quality and reliability, but it does make standing out a little tougher. The Foxconn 8600GTS-256 is a pretty plane example of what's available, and it is priced nicely too.

The previous mid-range cards from NVIDIA (6600 GT, 7600 GT) redefined what was possible in terms of high levels of performance for not too much money, and while the 8600 GTS certainly follows on this tradition, it just doesn't feel as awe-inspiring. While it does change the level of performance you can get for £130, it?s not by a mind blowingly dramatic amount - you're looking at slightly above 7900 GT levels of performance here. Though the 8600 GTS may not be as ground breaking as previous generations, but it certainly brings a lot to the table for the money.

The Foxconn 8800 GTS 320MB Overclocked graphics card has a core clock speed of 575 MHz (stock is 500MHz) and the memory clock is 1800MHz (stock is 1600 MHz). The 96 stream processors chug along at 1.2GHz. The heat sink/fan follows the NVIDIA reference design, though with a snazzy top cover.

The Foxconn FV-N88SMCD2-ONOC videocard is based entirely on the 'G80' reference design, not a surprise since most manufacturers have gone this route. During testing the FV-N88SMCD2-ONOC was extremely quiet even during high 3D load levels. That's great news for gamers the FV-N88SMCD2-ONOC is not just fast, it's also quiet. Instead of bundling games that get old and out of date, Foxconn includes a swanky USB 3D game pad with the FV-N88SMCD2-ONOC videocard. After trying it out in a few games, you know for "testing purposes" we all agreed that the PS2 like controller added a new dimension to computer game play.

Intel has its own very solid P965 and 975X chipsets along with its upcoming Bearlake P35 and X38 series chipsets with DDR-3 memory support among other things and should show up in the May and June time frame. SiS has new ones coming out, VIA even has started to look into Core 2 and even AMD/ATI has chipsets currently on the market and even working on new ones for their competitors processor platform. nVidia though at this time is the biggest player for Core 2, especially for Dual Graphics SLI. Today we are looking at another contender for the Core 2 market using the nVidia nForce 680i chipset being Foxconn with their obscurely named N68S7AA-8EKRS2H motherboard. Foxconn has been known in the past for the more budget conscious boards, not wanting to take on the big boys like MSI, ASUS, Gigabyte and the likes who really push overclocking to its limits but it seems like they mean business now and are ready for the challenge.
