After some initial problems MSI came through with a replacement board that proved to be rock solid. The P4N Diamond is definitely the Pentium 4 SLI board to go for as long as you're not worried about cost.

The main strengths of the 945P Neo Platinum were the new features embedded into its design. Stability was increased with better power and voltage regulation, overclocking made easier with seamless dynamic overclocking technology, HD Audio enhanced with DTS Connect support and of course Intel's AMT takes remote system administration to new heights. Coupled with its decent stock performance, these features make the 945P Neo Platinum well suited for all environments, home user or SOHO alike. Like a Jack-of-all-Trades, the board did not truly excel in any one area. However, you can be sure that no matter what you use your PC for, it won't disappoint...

The performance of the MSI K8N Neo3-F was very good for its class, and in many cases the motherboard scored almost as well as the much faster Athlon64 4000+ systems. In almost all the benchmarks it proved to be faster than any previous Socket 754 system we have tested too. Not bad for a budget machine at all. If you want to give your Socket 754 Athlon64 system a new lease of life, the MSI K8N Neo3-F motherboard could be what you're looking for.

To be frank, PC gaming is expensive and anyone who says you can build a fast gaming rig for "cheap" is not telling you the whole truth. Those of you who are thinking about getting into gaming can take your first baby steps with something like the MSI NX6200TC-TD32E though. It can't play at high resolutions or utilize AA/AF, but it does allow users to experience all the DirectX 9 and SM 3.0 eye-candy, something that would have been unthinkable only a generation ago.

The MSI RS480M2-IL is a decent entry-level motherboard with a retail price of $107 CDN ($85 US). The board is perfect for HTPC use with its decent integrated video and built-in TV-out. It does not come with much in the way of extras, only 10/100 LAN and 5.1 channel audio, but considering its price we can't expect too much. The motherboard layout is very good as MSI typically designs its motherboards with the end user in mind. We would have liked to see the front panel I/O colour-coordinated.

The MSI 661FM3-V is a nicely manufactured micro-ATX board which features an excellent layout for such a small motherboard. Most components are well labelled and spaced, and the overall impression is that MSI has paid a lot of attention to designing this board. As you'd expect from a budget motherboard, features are not the strong point here. Integrated video, audio and 10/100 LAN ensure that you can easily build a cheap system with this product however. Extras are extremely sparse, with only a tiny manual, and one each of IDE, SATA SATA power and floppy cables included...

To sum up this peek at MSI's mini marvel, it's the absolute perfect size for my uses, outshining the horrible DTR models I've reviewed for HEXUS by a massive margin. Plenty of disk space and rock solid WiFi, along with great basic ergonomics have me putting the screen's reflective nature to one side while I enjoy the size and lack of weight of almost a perfect notebook for my needs. I'm a journo with no need for on-the-go 3D performance. I just write, so all I need is something tiny with plenty of pixels, good wireless and a keyboard I'm happy to tap on for hours on end...

The results speak for themselves. MSI's turbo charged 6600 Diamond Edition is only around 13% slower than the standard 6600GT AGP, thanks to its higher GPU and memory clocks (400MHz and 800MHz respectively). This easily makes MSI 6600 Diamond Edition the fastest Nvidia 6600 graphic card on the planet. MSI 6600GT AGP version is quite a potent card, offering solid heatsink construction, excellent software bundle and moderate to high overclocking ability.

In terms of performance, the MSI NX6600GT-VTD128SP ran a cut above most other 6600GT cards thanks to its faster stock memory speed. It was also a decent overclocker and performed faster than a Radeon X800 XT in some overclocked tests, which was pretty impressive. The videocard was dead silent in our test system. If you're looking for a new AGP videocard that won't break the bank, and wouldn't mind getting a great game along with it, the NX6600GT-VTD128SP is a good bundle.

nVidia's entry into the P4 chipset segment is certainly impressive. The P4N Diamond manages to post scores which are as good as Intel's 925XE in most benchmarks and better in gaming bringing it a bit closer to the Athlon64 dominated category. nVidia also provides better built-in features such as support for ten USB 2.0 ports, four IDE drives along with four SATA drives than can be mixed to create RAID and their Active Armor Firewall technology.

MSI has long been a leader in the 'eye candy' department and the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum is easily one of the better looking motherboards on the market right now. You won't be ashamed to have a case window with the K8N Neo4 Platinum as your backbone! Of course there's more here than meets the eye, and the MSI K8N Neo4 Platinum is in general a very well rounded motherboard.

If you haven't guessed already, the MSI NX6800GT-T2D256E is one fast videocard. With AA/AF enabled the NX6800GT-T2D256E still remains very competitive and should provide decent framerates along with a beautiful image. All this performance yet the videocard is extremely quiet even when the fan is set to its fastest speed! We really do see MSI work some magic with the NX6800GT-T2D256E.

The MSI Star Hub is a great little device that marries excellent Bluetooth functionality with the convenience of the USB 2.0 hub. If you want to connect your phone or any other Bluetooth device to your PC, the Star Hub is definitely worth a look.

The Mega Book S260 is the first notebook that MSI has produced based on the Sonoma Centrino platform. In fact the machine sitting in front of me right now is a pre-production prototype, as the full production models aren't quite ready yet. With this in mind I wasn't able to benchmark the S260, but I was keen to get an idea of the look, feel and features of MSI's new baby.

Lightweight, chic and sturdy, the MSI S250 is one well-endowed notebook that should bode well for many with its good portability. However, its keyboard left a bad after-taste and one should personally give it a trial before flashing your credit card.
