Upgrading your rig is never an easy task- especially when you have to replace the motherboard. Generally speaking, when you upgrade your motherboard, chances are that you're also looking at a new CPU and sometimes RAM. With their X48 chipset based motherboard, MSI tries to make things a little easy by providing DDR2 as well as DDR3 support which can certainly reduce the size of dent to you account.

In this test, we are reviewing a graphics card from MSI. Lately we have reviewed a number of products from MSI. The card on the bench in this test is Nvidias latest release - namely the 9800GTX. The card MSI has sent us is called N9800GTX-T2D512-OC. As the name reveals, MSI has produced an overclocked version of the Nvidia 9800GTX card. We weren't impressed with the previous 9800GTX we reviewed, so it'll be exciting to see if this card handles better against the 8800 series.

We saw MSI mix it up just the other week with the 9600GT by overclocking it and going down the aftermarket cooler route. Aesthetically speaking, the card really didn't do a lot for us, but as we dived deeper into the testing of the card we became pleasantly surprised by the performance the cooler offered. The latest 9600GT variant from MSI sports the same cooler along with an extra 512MB of GDDR3, giving us a grand total of 1GB. The card also carries with it the same overclock we saw on the 512MB model which should aid in getting some extra performance over stock clocked offerings.

MSI has done a wonderful job with their K9A2 Platinum motherboard. The performance is higher than the last AMD motherboard we did the Gigabyte GA-M69GM-S2H motherboard back in September. The ability to do Quadfire (Four ATI cards in Crossfire) is excellent. The minor issue with the motherboard utility aside and the problem with setting up RAID aside, this was a joy to work with. The question with the AMD motherboards is always whether it might be better to buy a new Intel CPU with new motherboard rather than buy an AMD board to use the old CPU. For the true hardcore enthusiast, there really isn't an AMD choice that makes sense as Intel Core 2 Quad CPUs dominate the AMD equivalents in performance. AMD competes in price as the lowest priced Intel Quad Core is 10%+ higher priced than the AMD equivalent.

MSI have long been known for their motherboards and graphics cards but more recently we have seen them come up with some unique features which set them apart from other manufacturers. Their Stirling engine based Northbridge heatsink (fan that uses heat and pressure to power itself, no electricity from a fan header) is a prime example of some great out of the box thinking. In addition to this MSI have been enhancing products by adding components such as X-Fi soundcards to their high end motherboard bundles, but the great user focused ideas do not stop there. The recent launch of the GX laptop range gives us a high specification laptop with some excellent features (HDMI) and the ability to overclock at the touch of a button. Let's find out if it is as good as the marketing makes out.

It's only been days since the GeForce 9800 GTX made its debut but MSI already has prepared an overclocked version for the enthusiasts. Outwardly similar to the reference design, it is similar to MSI's own standard edition, but with higher clocks. Does it have the pace to stand out from the competition?

From MSI we have received a P35 Platinum Combo motherboard which is based on a P35 Express chipset from Intel. What sets this motherboard apart from its rivals is the possibility of using both DDR2 and DDR3 RAM. The card comes in what can be described as a standard motherboard box. On the front are some ads for the different technologies, and on the back a more detailed overview of the features.

With games getting more and more demanding, the amount of frame buffer available to the GPU has been on a continuous rise. However, as we saw in the ASUS 8800GT-1GB article, it doesn't always help to equip your VGA card with more RAM than the reference design of a manufacturer. Today, we see MSI going down that road with their 1GB version of the 9600GT graphics card.

MSI laptops are becoming more popular with good reason, offering excellent performance at competitive prices. Their latest gaming laptop comes with retro style Turbo button which overclocks the CPU on the fly. Equipped with 8600M GT and 2Gb ram this multimedia power house aims to impress.

With the EX600, MSI proposes a compact multimedia machine in their Entertainment Series. With it's nVidia GeForce 8400M DX10 graphics card and 2 Gigs of RAM, one should think that this machine can fulfil the requirements of a laptop multimedia machine.

We're writing to let you all know that we have just posted a new article at HotHardware.com in which we evaluate the features and performance of MSI's P35 Platinum Combo motherboard. As its name implies, this board is based on the P35 chipset for the Intel platform. But what makes it interesting is its somewhat unique ability to work with both DDR3 and DDR2 memory types and its funky "Circu-Pipe" cooling apparatus. Head on over to the site and check it out...

MSI 8800 GT That we review today belongs to the most popular group of slightly overclocked 8800 GT cards. The RADEON HD 3650, in its turn, is basically a RADEON HD 2600 made using a finer process technology. Its clock rates are lower than, but close to those of 2600 XT.

Missing from our recent GeForce 9600 GT shootout is the familiar MSI brand. Here to remedy this situation, we have the overclocked MSI N9600GT-T2D512-OC, which comes in a rather gaudy red. Can it match the other GeForce 9600 GT competitors in the mid-range segment?
