The XFX 8800 Ultra XXX arrived Technic3D. The Graphic Card XFX NVIDIA 8800 Ultra XXX with 675 MHz Core, 1.150 MHz Memory and 1.667 MHz Shader better than others High-End Graphic Cards? Technic3D will see that, on Windows Vista, in the following Review.

The positives of the 8800 Ultra are that it is the fastest video card available bar none. The 8800 Ultra is an Overclocked 8800 GTX and performs as such. Video cards like the 8800 GTX and Ultra have the capability of doing DirectX 10 games the visual justice that they require.

Nvidia have held the GFX performance crown for quite some time with the extremely impressive 8800 GTX, so when they announced the "Ultra" a few weeks ago the general consensus was they had yet again pushed the envelope further, albeit with a huge price premium. Everything considered, there will always be a market for these high end cards and with this in mind XFX sent us their new "XXX" Ultra for review, with further improvements on the core, memory and shader clocks. As AMD's graphics card division are yet unable to supply an answer to the older GTX, the Ultra is certain to push the two companies high end products even further apart. With such a high price tag on the Ultra our graphics card guru Stuart "Veridian" Davidson will not only measure the cards real world gaming performance on XP and Vista, but will ascertain if the card is ultimately worth the money.

Lots of people are comparing it to the performance of overclocked 8800 GTX cards too, which sometimes out perform the stock clocked 8800 Ultra. I can't really speak to that since I don't have a stock clocked 8800 Ultra to test. What I can say is that people didn't complain so much when the overclocked 8800 GTS 320MB cards outperformed the stock 8800 GTS cards.

The card is nothing more than a way of sticking it to AMD and ATI - in a marketing sense - in regards to their upcoming R600 launch later this month. Much like Intel seem to be trying their very hardest to destroy AMD, Nvidia is also giving it their best shot, too. XFX's 8800 Ultra XXX screams along at top speed leaving every other single GPU solution in the dust, there is no doubt about that. However it is safe to say that with word on the street that supply and quantities is very low, Nvidia is not expecting to sell many of these graphics cards. We have even heard from some of Nvidia's partners in Taiwan that they do not even want to touch the tweaked G80 chip in fear that they will not sell. Nvidia believe there will be a few handfuls of ultra high-end extreme users out there that will pay the money just to have the best of the best.
