With decent echo cancellation technology, hardware volume and microphone mute buttons (small blue/red LED indicates the status of the microphone), and full-duplex operation, the USR9610 (£28.99) works just like a traditional speakerphone, only without the costs of a long distance call. If you work nearly as much as we do, you'll know that you need both hands on the keyboard at any given time, and can't be fooled to take the time to put on a clunky headset every time you want to take a Skype call. Rather than fiddle with a stand-alone mic and speaker setup and pray there's no echo, a dedicated speakerphone may just do the trick.
