Apple's first flash MP3 player drops LCD screen and complicated controls in favor of simplistic 'song shuffle' style. Basically, iTunes' AutoFill randomly picks 120 songs for you during sync from your favorite playlist. iPod shuffle also recharges via USB, and doubles as a 512MB USB flash drive as well.

As its competitors pile ever more features into their players in an attempt to dislodge Apple, it goes the other way and makes an even more simplistic player. It's true that if any other company tried to release a MP3 player without a screen they'd get laughed out of town - but then it wouldn't look like an iPod. ;-)

As a digital audio player, the iPod shuffle's impressive audio quality will surely please a huge crowd. For folks looking for a no frills player with good sound and battery life, the iPod shuffle will be difficult to ignore. Moreover, with the bundled lanyard and the design of the shuffle, the simple looking shuffle can be worn as an accessory to complement your attire.
