The 4CoreDual-VSTA from Asrock is based on the newest chipset form VIA. The PT880 Ultra is low cost way for many end users to retain usage of their older AGP video card and upgrade to PCI-e units when time and money permits. And when that time comes you can leave that AGP card in and still integrate your new PCI-e card as well. Leaving the ability to use multiple monitors.

The 775XFire-eSATA2 is an interesting board that has been overshadowed by the 965 chipset that replaced the 945 chipset the board is based upon and the new Core 2 Extreme and Duo CPUs. The chipset does not support the new CPUs meaning this is a low-cost board with solid performance for the single core and Pentium 8xx series and below CPUs only.

No, there's no failure in the product description or headline, because the AM2NF3-VSTA from ASRock is really an AMD Socket AM2 motherboard with AGP 8x Slot! Surely, some will be surprised about this combination and the nForce3 250 chipset, but it is nevertheless an interesting and an enormously inexpensive combination. Because this motherboard is useful for those, who bought a fast AGP video card for the previous system and would like to update the PC to a current AMD Socket AM2 processor.

Back when Core2 Duo was released the only supported chipsets were the Intel 965 and higher end 975. The sheer thought of any other Intel chipset supporting this processor was unheard of. But you can leave it up to Asrock to think of the unthinkable and actually accomplish it. You can pretty much say that they are known for doing just this. They took the aged 945 chipset and made it completely compatible with Conroe and Allendale.

The ASRock ConRoe945G-DVI is a very affordable budget board for the Intel market that provides a very good feature set for around US $75. The performance of the board in the majority of the synthetic and game benchmarks was very good if not class leading at times. This is quite a feat for ASRock as our 945P board did not perform as well in previous testing. The stability of the board was excellent in all areas of testing and general usage with the proper memory settings. However, we were frustrated during overclocking with the limited memory voltage options as well as the lack of CPU core voltage settings. With that said, let's move on to our initial performance opinions regarding this board.

The ASRock AM2V890-VSTA Socket AM2 motherboard is the first motherboard to cross PCSTATS' test bench based on the VIA K8T890 chipset. This compact ATX motherboard has four 240 pin DDR2 memory slots which accommodate up to 8GB of DDR-2 memory (more when higher density DDR2 memory is released). The 775Dual-VSTA is based on VIA's older PT880 Ultra chipset, a variation of the PT880 Pro with 1066FSB support and modified by ASRock to support Intel's new Core 2 processors. However, the 775Dual-VSTA is a more interesting motherboard when compared to the AM2V890-VSTA because of the hybrid nature of the PT880 Ultra chipset.
