We?ll delve into its features and then see how well it handles itself when put under a bit of stress. The Cooler Master surprised me with number of PCI-Express leads! There is a total of six 6-pin and three 8-pin connectors. Why so many you might ask? While Real Power Pro 1250W definitely has more PCI-Express connectors than you could possibly use, you should be prepared for 3-Way SLI or whatever is new NVIDIA or AMD currently cooking!

Leveraging on their success with the CM690, CoolerMaster introduces a new chassis aimed at enthusiasts who expect nothing less than the extraordinary. Stepping up to the plate is the CoolerMaster Cosmos which makes its entrance into an already burgeoning enclosure industry. It is an industry where manufacturers strive to separate themselves from the next by offering new features and unique innovations to entice the unwary enthusiast into a purchase. With the introduction of the Cosmos, CoolerMaster hopes to redefine what it means to own an enthusiast level enclosure.

All in all, we might have sounded a little too harsh - this case is top-quality nevertheless. The potential issue here is that the target market is a little too narrow for the case to sell well. In our opinion, the only users that might find interest in this case are: one, hardcore overclockers with one or more high-end GPUs and likely a water-cooling system, and two, those users who don't think twice about paying a lot for excellent design, which this case really has.

Coolermaster position the Hyper TX2 heatsink as a "total cooling solution," which is a fancy way to say exhaust airflow is put to use. Behind the Hyper TX2 is a rather large air scoop. It's job is to direct airflow exiting the aluminum fins of the heatsink down towards the MOSFETs, chipsets and other circuitry positioned around the CPU socket on many Intel and AMD motherboards.

The Coolermaster Hyper 212 is a 60mm tall heatsink, and it's comprised of just the right mix of copper heatpipes and aluminum cooling fins. I'll save you the trouble of skipping to the end of this review - the Hyper 212 performs within the top 10 best Intel and AMD heatsinks currently in the Frostytech reference list. Each list is nearly a hundred heatsink models long, so that's quite a feat for this 710 gram puppy. The Hyper 212 heatsink supports AMD socket 939/AM2/AM2+ and Intel socket 775 processors.

The Cooler Master CM 690 is a nice looking case, there's no doubt in my mind about that, and the fact that its available for around fifty quid in the UK only sweetens the deal. On top of that, the cooling performance is pretty admirable. Does the case have problems? Sure it does, but nothing is perfect. The plentiful ventilation grilles mean that the case can get pretty noisy, especially if you have it on your desk right next to you monitor. That's only going to get worse the more fans you put in the case too, though it can also be solved pretty easily by putting the case in a desk alcove.

CoolerMaster has come up with some very unique and target-based products through the years. Some of those unique items include enclosures and extremely large, over-the-top type enclosures. The CoolerMaster Cosmos 1000 is one of those enclosures. The Cosmos 1000 is large enough to house the family pet or that pesky mother-in-law of yours. Constructed from aluminum and steel, this unit is stronger and lighter than an all-steel unit. Some of the unique features include sound-deadening foam on the side panels, a removable rack-style hard drive tray, a new push button tool-less clip, and a host of other stylish features.

If you're after the ultimate performance from an air heatsink the Cooler Master Hyper 212 should certainly fit the bill with its included high performance fan and dual fan option, but you'll need to swap the fan out for a quieter alternative or at least lower the voltage on the current one if pine for a quiet environment.

Today computer cases are more than the beige box of the past. No longer the drab box sitting on the desktop they have been transformed. People now have a choice of colours as well as styles and can expand the case to suit their needs. The form has been addressed but what about function? With some cases function has taken a back seat to form. Today's review focuses on one case where it appears that function was foremost in the designers mind but without loosing site of form. Let's take a look at Cooler Master's CM 690 to see how well form and function can work together.

Cooler Master recently brought the CM 690 to the market which offers some great features that a lot of higher end cases don't have. The CM 690 can take up to seven 120mm case fans, and offers a nice sleek looking exterior.

In my time as a hardware reviewer I have never actually reviewed an enthusiast orientated Cooler Master case; I have used them but never been in the position to take a proper look at one. Thinking back, one of the most impressive would have to be their Wave Master design which looked fantastic, specifically compared to other cases of its time. In addition to this it had a few good features which made using it as the basis for a review system easy. It would also appear that high end Cooler Master cases are well made because one of my friends still uses his Wave Master, 4 years after it was originally launched, and it is still in perfect condition. The latest high end case to be launched by this Taiwanese company is the Cosmos 1000 and it is this unit which we are reviewing today.

Arriving at my front door in a plain brown box, this mystery item puzzled me. Not knowing if I should open it up or call Home Land Security, I took the chance and risked life and limb to find out what was lurking inside. Lo and behold, it was the CM690 SLI-ready enclosure from Cooler Master. This sleek, black enclosure sports a black mesh front and top with chrome dividers, tool-less installation, internal cable management system, and enough fan openings to create your own hovercraft. A bunch of other neat, little options are included, but I will mention those in the review - no need to spoil things now.
