"We probably shouldn't expect much from ECS P55H-A. On the other hand, who cares about manufacturer profitability and ambitions while it produces quality, adequately priced solutions with decent features. Inexpensive models are the bulk of sales after all. Let's see whether ECS P55H-A is attractive enough."

"Intel H57 is a more "complete" version of the Intel H55 chipset, supporting RAID, 14 USB 2.0 ports (against 12 on H55), and eight PCI Express 2.0 x1 lanes (against six on H55). H57H-MUS from ECS comes with two PCI Express x1 expansion cards to add USB 3.0 ports and SATA-600 (a.k.a. SATA 6G) ports on the motherboard. Let's what you should expect from this product."

"In conjunction with the launch of the Core i3/i5 Clarkdale
processors last month, Intel introduced the H55 and H57 Chipsets. The
Intel H55 Express Chipset is designed for use with these new processors
and Core i7 800 series CPUs. The H55 is compatible with the HD graphics
found embedded onto the new Clarkdale CPUs as well as the PCI Express
2.0 slots and dual channel DDR3 memory controller provided by the CPU
itself, while the chipset itself provides support for the digital
displays, HD audio, six PCI Express x1 slots, Serial ATA, Gigabit LAN,
and Intel ME Firmware / BIOS support. As our first Linux review of an
Intel H55 motherboard we are checking out the ECS Elitegroup H55H-M."

"By the middle of Q1 2009 AMD began releasing new AM3 based processors with integrated DDR3 memory controller, and a revised 785G chipset with new SB710 Southbridge soon followed. ECS joined the fray with their A780GM-M and A780GM-M7 micro-ATX motherboards, and just as they did previously with the AM2+ A780GM-A Ultra, they have followed these with an upscale, full size ATX A785GM-AD3 Black Series. Sharing many of the same features as the rest of their Black Series boards, the A785GM-AD3 offers solid caps, gold plated CPU and RAM contacts, Special ACC (Advanced Clock Calibration) and support for AMD OverDrive or traditional overclocking via M.I.B. II BIOS tweaking utility."

"If your looking for a graphics card to use in an HTPC the ECS GeForce GT 240 would be ideal as the Arctic Cooling heat sink does a great job of keeping the card cool. The best part is that it's nearly silent in operation and would not be distracting at all in a quiet room. While we don't have an official statement from NVIDIA, we have it on good authority that the GeForce GT 240 will support 3D Blu-ray. The only thing keeping it from being the perfect HTPC card is the lack of bit streaming HD audio..."

"A month after NVIDIA launched the GeForce GT 220 graphics card
they rolled out the GeForce GT 240, to further fill the performance void
between the GT216-based GT 220 and the GeForce GTS 250 that had been
around since March. The $100 GeForce GT 240 has received some praise for
its low-power consumption while delivering a decent level of performance
for being a mid-range graphics card, but of course, those reviews have
been when tested under Microsoft Windows. We finally have our hands on a
GeForce GT 240 graphics card from the folks over at ECS Elitegroup to
see how this GT215 graphics card performs under Linux."

For those of us not fortunate to be able to afford the bleeding edge and best of computer hardware, our biggest demand is probably value. We want good performance but we want it at an affordable price. At the heart of any new computer is the motherboard, and today we're looking at the ECS A 780GM-A Ultra Black Series motherboard, which promises a packed feature set and overclockability in a very affordable package.
