The GeForce 8800 GT is probably one of the most recognizable graphics chipset available now and with both 256MB and 512MB variants, it's set to become even more so. Read on as we check out one of the newer 256MB models, an overclocked version from MSI.

The 8 series of nVIDIA cards have been around for over a year and have almost completely dominated the market in terms of high end support. Now with the 9 series just around the corner, partners are finishing up with their last set of performance cards before focusing on the next generation. One of these last cards is the 8800GT; near performance of a GTX with a sub GTS price tag. MSI might be a bit late in the game to release an 8800GT model, but they've done it none the less and it's here with me today. Let's see if it lives up to the 8800GT's sterling reputation.

Nvidia MCP73PV chipset has been out in the wild for quite some time and now it is time to check performance of MCP73PV-based boards. New chipset is actually a combination of Nvidia nForce 630i and Nvidia 7100 IGP, but with single channel memory support. ECS and MSI sent us their boards for testing.

MSI's X38 Diamond succeeds its older P35 Diamond flagship motherboard with better overclocking and power efficiency, a more comprehensive storage solution and support for quad-GPU solutions. Other highlights such as Creative X-Fi audio and SkyTel VoIP are still there too. Check out the full review here.

The MSI K9A2 CF provides excellent value as the cheapest multi-GPU, PCI-Express 2.0 board you'll find on the market today. The fact it's not based on the premium chipset in its range means it isn't faster than a 790FX motherboard, but it still keeps up with the crowd and overclocks like a monster if you have the CPU to match. For £60, it's an exceptionally capable and very stable motherboard that also has a solid BIOS at this early stage in the 790X's life. Considering the fact that Phenoms are dropping in price hand over fist and the Radeon HD 3850s and Radeon HD 3870s are good buys already, this board is a perfect addition to an inexpensive upgrade to quad-core and DirectX 10.

We've evaluated an overclocked Radeon HD 3850 card that offered really interesting performance and this time around, we've tested a speedier Radeon HD 3870 graphics card from MSI. Can it rival the GeForce 8800 GT 512MB? Find out in this review.

MSI Computer has released a pre-overclocked GeForce 8800GT that makes it one of the fastest on the market. The MSI NX8800GT-T2D512E-OC is pre-overclocked to 660MHz core and 1920MHz memory. The standard is 600/1800MHz core/memory. This lean single slot PCI Express x16 videocard is backed by 512MB of GDDR3 memory, supports dual DVI outputs and a variety of TV output options. Cost sits at $324 CDN, putting it about middle of the pack.

The K9AGM2-FIH is still a decent-performing, good-looking motherboard, but, in the end, it breaks no ground and makes mistakes that cause its mundanity. It serves as an example for what not to do by a company that has so often done things better than the rest.

Fans of Core 2 Duo can use the MSI P6NGM-FD to build a small, cheap and quiet PC that delivers surprisingly good performance but anyone building a Media Centre would be better off with AMD's 690G.

Today, while ATI/AMD still doesn't have a "GeForce killer", it does have a number of competent and competitive low, mid and high-end cards that often score high marks for those evaluating performance from a dollar-for-dollar perspective. One such model is the Radeon HD 2600 XT. In this article, we will assess another 2600 XT class card in the form of the MSI RX2600XT Diamond Plus, an aggressively clocked Radeon HD 2600 XT backed with 512MB of high-speed GDDR4.

MSI's NX8600GT Twin Turbo videocard is especially interesting, it's got push-button shader overclocking! Based on nVidia's DirectX10 compliant GeForce 8600GT GPU, MSI's NX8600GT Twin Turbo has 256MB of GDDR3 and is compatible with the PCI Express x16 standard. By default the videocard comes pre-overclocked with its core running at 600 MHz and memory at 1600 MHz (stock is 540/1400). Accessories include the standard TV output cables (for S-Video and Component output) and a DVI to analog converter.

The MSI P6N Diamond is an Intel socket 775 motherboard that supports Core 2 Duo/Quad/Extreme and processors running on a 533/800/1066/1333 MHz Front Side Bus. That covers all Intel CPUs back to the Pentium D. Chipsets are the heart of the P6N Diamond, and this board is based on to very solid performers; the nVIDIA nForce 680i northbridge and nForce 590i southbridge. That puts a pile of PCI Express lanes at your feet, allowing dual SLI videocards to run in x16/x16 or quad PCI Express x16 videocards to run in x8/x8/x8/x8 mode.
