Recently, XSR and several other sites have posted previews of upcoming x38 motherboards, and the MSI Diamond was no different. Thankfully, we finally have our hands on the finished article and with some brand new testing equipment, hope to put it through it's paces. Let's see how it does.

The combination of using standard 512MB configuration with a 65nm GPU and single slot cooling has allowed nVidia to lower the production costs of the 8800GT which should be selling between US$250-$300. Overall, we were very satisfied by 8800GT performance which proved to be faster than 2900XT and GeForce 8800GTS, while keeping on pair with 8800GTX. We know that nVidia is planning to make more changes to its high-end lineup before years end, but if you are in market for a new card today, 8800GT comes as a no brainer.

We had no doubt that NVIDIA was going to bring something to the party to battle the HD 2900 PRO but we didn't think it was going to be a new card. We thought maybe a few tweaks here and there in the drivers would be done but instead they decide to drop the bombshell that is the 8800GT. The 8800GT is here and we're going to see stock at the beginning of next week all around the world, which is more than we can say for the HD 2900 PRO which impressed us a great deal.

Clocking in at 700Mhz core and 1050Mhz memory, the NX8600GTS OC sports a 25/50Mhz increase over the standard nVidia reference set. The cooler is an upgraded design to MSI's "regular" NX8600GTS as well. When they're offering the OC version for the same price as the non-OC, who wouldn't go for that?

MSI Computer's Radeon RX2600XT Diamond videocard is what PCSTATS is testing out for you today, so here are the pertinent details. This PCI Express videocard has 512MB of GDDR4 memory, its Radeon 2600XT GPU is pre-overclocked to 850 MHz, and the memory to 2300 MHz; this is up from the default of 800MHz core and 2200MHz memory.

This motherboard is a classic example of a plain ATX product. While it doesn't have top notch "goodies" like an integrated Wi-Fi adapter, two Gigabit Ethernet ports, or a bunch of SATA RAID ports, it can still serve as a good foundation for a powerful and rich computer system. One may say that MSI P6N SLI is a motherboard for those who on the one hand can afford buying more expensive products, but on the other hand are not going to overpay for features they won't use.

I can remember when I first heard about the homeplug idea of using existing power lines in your house to create a network. This was a very exciting idea for me, but unfortunately the first generation of these products didn't live up to the hype, as they were only able to connect at a maximum of 14Mbit, not very fast at all. Now we have the next generation of these products and this time round they actually deliver.

MSI has used the RD780 chipset in a very basic CrossFire motherboard that is satisfyingly cheap but we have our reservations about the memory and graphics performance of this pre-production sample.

MSI's K9AG Neo2 Digital has an HDMI port right at the back. That means the K9AG Neo2 Digital is ready for HTPC use right out of the box - as opposed to a DVI-to-HDMI converter, the HDMI jack signifies it has audio as well as video signals. The former can only provide the HDMI video signal.

MSI's latest mainstream all-in-one motherboard runs on NVIDIA's new GeForce 7150/nForce 630i mGPU chipset. Its features are nothing to shout about, but having a NVIDIA GPU in the Intel IGP market means finally getting decent compatibility for games and 3D applications alike.

With the X38 range of motherboards beginning to hit the market, the previews are coming thick and fast. I managed to get hold of MSI's first X38 board; the Diamond. This is a pre-release model with some changes still to be made but it gives us a rough idea of what it will look like; got some BIOS pictures too.

MSI produce a myriad of different components. From motherboards to graphics cards, mp3 players to webcams. Speaking of which, today I am testing their newest little cam, the Starcam Genie.

Remember the Turbo button that you hit to instantly boost your computer? That died out many years back but it's not stopping MSI from reviving the halcyon days of Turbo mode with its latest graphics card, the MSI NX8600GT Twin Turbo.

The MSI P35 Diamond performs well but isn't exceptional and the additional extras are a welcome effort but might not appeal to everyone. I constantly found myself writing "disappointed" here and there, which I still am - it just doesn't live up to what we'd expect from a Diamond-series board - especially since I've seen what the X38 Diamond has in potential. At most it's an expensive Platinum and makes the real P35 Platinum a far better purchase than when we originally reviewed it.
