The long anticipated Wireless Entertainment Desktop 8000 is here, but does it impress? The entire package does a fine job of looking good while offering solid functionality, but we found it lacks greatly in a few key areas. The most notable being the price... at $300.

If you one of the many of people discovering the joys of a Home Theater PC, then you'll want to get as much usefulness from it as you can. Other vendors have created Media Center remotes that offer more functionality, but sometimes you just need a keyboard. There are several wireless keyboards out there, but wouldn't it be great if they had all of your standard Media Center functions integrated right on it? What if the keyboard could be programmed to power your TV? What if analog mouse controls were integrated right on the body? Well, Microsoft's Remote Keyboard for Windows Media Center was developed specifically for Home Theater PCs running Windows Media Center to address these tasks with a single device.

Does Emergence Day sound to you like a haughty euphemism for childbirth? Does the phrase "Can't stop the Train, baby!" hold no irony for you? Even if you're a stalwart PC-only gamer, it was hard to miss the hype surrounding the release of Epic's Gears of War on the Xbox 360. If you did happen to be living in a cave - a cave without electricity, even - or were visiting the moon during November of last year, then you had no reason to feel slighted by Epic and Microsoft for not bringing Gears of War to the PC at the same time as the Xbox 360 release. PC gamers on planet Earth, however, likely felt a twinge of hostility toward Epic for withholding a PC release until the Xbox 360 version sold enough copies to buy designer Cliff Bleszinski 24-karat gold pants. When the subject of a Gears of War PC port was first broached with Epic vice president Mark Rein, he initially refused to acknowledge the existence of any such master plan. But as sales of the game quickly approached infinity plus one, Rein's denial soon turned to cageyness and then to confirmation. Which leads us to today: PC gamers, Emergence Day is nigh. It's time to tear through some Locust the way nature intended: in high-resolution goodness, with a mouse and a keyboard.

These days there are tons of gaming related devices available. For the most parts, these products can be dismissed as marketing tricks. These devices have nothing to do with gaming or they have a name of some famous gamer slapped on to them at best. This makes it hard for a gamer to decide what product is worth its asking price, as gaming related items tend to be more expensive than similar products without this labeling.

It's Microsoft, so you can have some assurance that the build quality will be among the best in the business. Based on my experience with the provided Microsoft Wireless Notebook Laser Mouse 6000 and the Microsoft Lifecam NX-6000 webcam, I?m quite impressed with this mobile communications solution. It's all so easy to set up and to use.

Gears of War for the PC is, quite simply, a brilliant game. It doesn't have the shocking "OMG! JAWESOME!" effect that the original had when it launched, but it goes to show that some ports can be handled properly if enough time is given.

While Microsoft's Mobile Memory Mouse 8000 has some odd flaws, it's a fundamentally well-designed mouse that would make an excellent addition to your road warrior arsenal.

This new Microsoft SideWinder mouse has interesting features: the original shape allows a good and comfortably grip; with the additional weight and the replaceable mouse feet is possible to customize its behavior; the 2000 DPI resolution is more than sufficient for every necessity. The design of this mouse is "strange": you can love it for its particularity, or you can consider excessive the number of led lights, and useless the little LCD monitor. There are five configurable buttons: it's possible to register some commands or some macros, depending on the application used. It makes more easy and quick a lot of common operation that we do a lot of times every day. For a price around 65?, it's a good product if you are looking for a precise mouse, with a particular aesthetical aspect and very customizable.

Technically the Sidewinder is a good mouse and on paper it has all the features one might look for - on the fly DPI, thumb buttons and an ergonomic design which isn't entirely uncomfortable to use. On top of this it adds a load of features which range from pseudo-useful to the downright annoying, such as the weight system and Game Explorer button. The mouse even performs quite well and I tested it across a number of games in the week I had it on my desk, including the awesome Team Fortress 2.
