By introducing a TLC-based SSD, Crucial is offering exactly what it says: an affordable, entry-level SSD aimed at replacing your HDD. This means that do not expect an overall great performer.

According to our tests, the BX200 960GB SSD faced some performance challenges, and eventually proved to offer performance close to its successor, the BX100 1TB - although not in all benchmarks. The drive's random read speeds suffer, as well as its random and sequential write speeds. Sequential read speeds were adequate.

From a comparative perspective the BX200 is among the most affordable, high-capacity SSD currently available. But we are not sure it could add much price pressure on the rest of the market, considering that there are other SSDs with similar prices and better performance.

We would like to see Micron/Crucial to introduce a faster TLC SSD before switching to 3D NAND.
