LG will most probably unveil its follow-up to the Optimus G early next month. The company has posted a video
on Youtube about the phone, inviting users at event in New York on August 7th.
Under the "Great 2 Have You!" moto, the video, aside from the name, provides no other clues about the phone itself. "To me, you are perfect, From G" is the message flashed repeatedly throughout the video, along with images from the point of view of a person holding a camera or smartphone. In the invite sent to reporters, "Great 2 Have You!" uses a large G and 2.
Rumors have LG G2 to come with a 5.2-inch Full HD display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor running at 2.3GHz, 3GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilization.
LG has been competing with Huawei and Sony Mobile for the third place in the global smartphone market.
LG hopes to to make Optimus G2 a 10 million seller. In the Q1 this year, LG actually took the the 3rd place, marginally outpacing Huawei. The Korean smartphone maker had set the smartphone sales target for this year at 40 million, but the upcoming G2 launch has allwed the company to raise the target to 45 million.
Sony Mobile announced an ambitious goal last monthaiming at selling 42 million smartphones this year.
Huawei announced earlier that it will sell 60 million smartphones, which is a far greater target than those of LG Electronics and Sony Mobile. The strength of Huawei the China market.
