Google Buys spider.io To Help Company Battle Online Fraud


Google has completed the acquisition of spider.io, a company that has built an ad fraud fighting operation.

Google says that ot will include their fraud detection technology in its video and display ads products. Spider.io's technology has been designed to discover malicious coding and scams that are embedded within links and media.

Over the long term, Google's goal is to improve the metrics that advertisers and publishers use to determine the value of digital media and give all parties a cleaner picture of what campaigns and media are delivering strong results.

Google is trying to offer marketers that buy media online with the confidence that their ads are reaching real people, that results they see are based on actual interest.

No financial details have been revealed concerning the deal.
