As laptops continue to outsell desktops, the market of laptop/notebook accessories continues to grow. One of the bigger accessories the larger audience is looking into are notebook coolers. While many of these coolers tend to look bulky, bland, and sometimes just plain ugly, GlacialTech has taken a new approach with their X-Wing Series R1 Notebook Cooler.

"The Glacialtech X-Wing R1 notebook cooling pad accomodates chronically overheating notebooks with footprints of up to 365x250mm, either while sitting on a desk or resting comfortably on your lap. That means netbooks with screens as small as 7" and full size laptops with screens as wide as 17" should fit onto the X-Wing R1 without a problem. The bottom of the X-Wing is curved so it rests across your legs comfortably, without restricting airflow or cutting into you as some all-metal notebook cooling pads will."

The Igloo 7223 Light E is a fairly compact AMD K8 heatsink, made just of extruded aluminum with a 70mm fan. The Glacialtech Igloo 7223 Light E is rated for a maximum load of 80W, and is very quiet. Glacialtech's Igloo 7223 Light E heatsink stands a squat 51mm tall and comes with a fixed speed 70mm fan that rotates at a quiet 2600RPM. Weighing in at a feather 256grams, the Igloo 7223 Light E is compatible with AMD socket 754/939/940/AM2 processors of 80W TDP.

Heatsinks for low wattage energy efficient processors have been the topic of the last couple Frostytech reviews. The trend continues today with Glacialtech's new Igloo 5063 Cu Silent E heatsink. As such the Glacialtech Igloo 5063 Cu Silent is potentially suitable to low profile media center type computer systems. The heatsink has a maximum design spec of 95W, but as we've been seeing, this family of Glacialtech heatsinks are best suited to sub-85W processors in the 65W and 35W range.

Glacialtech's Igloo 5063 Light E heatsink stands 67mm tall and comes with a fixed speed 80mm fan that rotates at a quiet 2600RPM. Being all aluminum, the heatsink weighs just 341 grams. Glacialtech's Igloo 5063 Light is compatible with Intel socket 775 CPUs outputting 95W heat or less, and ships with a convenient pre-applied patch of good quality Shin-Etsu thermal compound applied.

A funny thing has happened to CPUs, their not as hot as they used to be. In some cases, Intel Core 2 Duo processors are pushing out as little as 65W, while some Celeron chips output just 35W of heat! It's quite a change from the long standing belief that newer processors will always output more heat. Glacialtech's Igloo 5058 Light E heatsink stands a squat 55mm tall and comes with a fixed speed 80mm fan that rotates at a quiet 2600RPM. Weighing in at a feather 263grams, the Igloo 5058 is compatible with Intel socket 775 CPUs outputting 95W heat or less.

The 5710 Series cooler is the largest cooler that Glacialtech currently offers and the only difference in the two samples we have today are the fans. One utilizes a silent fan rated at 1600 RPM while the other utilizes a PWM fan rated at 800 - 2600 RPM.

The Altair A380 is an affordable slim HTPC case, with a very clean look coupled with a very durable construction. The included power supply is 80 Plus certified and can easily power today's mATX boards with multi core CPUs. Also included is an infrared remote control which is compatible with Windows Vista.

This case works well for a basic HTPC build and supports both Micro ATX and full ATX motherboards, but unfortunately there are a few shortcomings that keep it from being a fierce competitor in the case market. The inclusion of a remote, internal card reader and PSU add a lot of convenience but with only 220W of power, hardware must be planned out accordingly.

We continue our exploration of some of the market's lesser known power supplies today with the GP-PS550BP from GlacialTech, a budget unit featuring semi-fanless operation, passive PFC, and a promise by the company of being capable of full power to 45 degrees.

In this review Frostytech is testing out Glacialtech's new Igloo 5750 PWM heatsink - a versatile CPU cooler with twin Pulse Width Modulation controlled 92mm fans and a single power cord for the sake of convenience. The Igloo 5750 PWM heatsink and previously reviewed Igloo 5750 Silent are identical models, except for the fans used. If you read that review, feel free to jump ahead to the acoustic and thermal test results for the full low down. Glacialtech's Igloo 5750 PWM heatsink accomodates both socket 775 Intel and AMD K8 processors (socket 754/939/940/AM2/AM2+).
