Today we look at another DDR2 solution from Asus, they still keep pushing out motherboards for the DDR2 market since DDR3 still might have not got the recognintion it should. This new Maximus 2 board is filled with various new features that might come in handy when overclocking, playing, and even just surfing the net. No more crap talk lets get this review on the road.

In the end, the G70 isn?t a bad laptop but it does suffer from being stuck in the middle a little bit. The hardware isn?t really enough to blow your socks off and though the performance is adequate it does carry a few technical compromises. The design is effective, if a little polarising when it comes to eliciting a reaction from customers, but the cost balances this out easily and places the G70 awkwardly in the middle ground of the market where it can tread water in the sea of other gaming laptops

Last year ASUS had christened the Eee PC as a cost-effective but well built sub-notebook that ended up being extremely popular with more people than just computer enthusiasts. The original Eee PC 700 series had shipped with Intel Celeron hardware, a solid-state drive, and a Xandros-based Linux distribution. These units have been selling extremely well but back in June ASUS had unveiled the Eee 901 as well as the Eee 1000 series. These newer models now use Intel Diamondville-based Atom CPUs, which we have been quite fond of for their technological advances. In this article we are providing our first look at the Eee PC 901 along with a few bits of information and sharing some of our plans for the Eee Linux testing in the near future.

The Eee PC 1000 is a very interesting product, especially to someone like me who still uses the original Eee PC 701 regularly, but the issue with it is that Asus are obviously struggling on ways to upgrade the older models without losing the focus on web browsing and general office tasks. Still, the sneaking suspicion remains that Asus have somehow failed to offer anything truly, greatly new with the new Eee 1000 and the impact it's made on us is definitely less than that made by the first sightings of the Eee PC 701. Maybe we're just getting old, twisted and cynical.

It was only going to be a matter of time 'till ASUS strapped some mean clocks onto the GTX 280 and put it under its TOP naming scheme. Well, that day has come and it's time to see what happens when the GTX 280 gets, for the most part, an unnecessary but much loved speed bump. The tumbling GTX 280 prices over the past few weeks make the card more and more affordable for people wanting to get a top gaming experience. While we all know that for the most part the new AMD HD 4870 X2 is the faster single card on the market, NVIDIA still hold the crown of the fastest single cored card.

The Asus Striker II NSE sports an attractive black PCB and very little color compared to many other boards. The black color lends to the overall classy feel of the board. With the first glance at the board, it is hard to miss the Fusion block system that cools the board. We've reviewed quite a few Mid-End coolers from ASUS, which almost always had decent technical properties. But the company also has a thoroughly developed High-End series. And the first such product to be reviewed now is Silent Knight II -- a promising premium cooler that offers an interesting combination of advanced design and attractive exterior.

Just when we thought we would no longer receive any more 9600 GTs because we figured we'd reviewed just about every single one on the market, ASUS has decided to run around and release a new one. The particular card we're looking at today is part of the Republic of Gamers collection, which is something we tend to see more in the motherboard department. It makes a lot of sense, though, that ASUS are going to expand this popular naming scheme out to more than just motherboards. This new card comes to us as the EN9600GT Matrix. Matrix is also something we haven't heard of from ASUS before, so it will be interesting to see if they're going to start creating some new lines.

What?s so great about the TOP line-up from ASUS is that they don't get a card and just add an extra 10MHz to the core and 20MHz to the memory, the TOP line-up of cards are really well overclocked cards that stand out from the competition. That latest card to carry the TOP name comes from the AMD team; the HD 4870 has quickly become a hot product for so many people thanks to the aggressive performance and even more aggressive price tag. Today we'll be checking out how the ASUS overclocked version goes against a stock clocked offering and see if it's worth paying the premium that the TOP cards carry to get the larger out of the box clocks.

The 4850 videocards seem to be the best bang for the buck cards on the market right now. Asus has released a TOP version which is a factory overclocked card and it also has a big Glacier cooler on it to keep the noise down. We are going to compare it vs some other high performing cards today and see if this TOP card really adds some top performance to it.

From a performance point of view, the ASUS Maximus II Formula is simply head and shoulders above the other P45 motherboards I've tested in the important categories of Sysmark (overall system score) and 3DMark (Graphics scores). From a Features point of view, the 8 SATA ports, CrossfireX compatibility and the ability to overclock the CPU to a higher clock speed automatically (CPU LevelUp) are features that a gamer will use. The inclusion of a full version of Kapersky Antivirus and 3DMark06 are added bonuses that make this motherboard worthy of a ROG sticker and my recommendation. P45 chipsets have hit the market in full force with ICH10R and a slew of improvements due to the smaller process scale of 65nm. As we move further into 2008 and into 2009 we'll see a whole new platform, but for the mainstream enthusiast gamer this board is as good as it gets.

Intel has really pushed forward into the Express chipset lineup with the new 4 series being touted at what the 3 series should have been. It seems like the 3 series was just a stepping stone and the 5 series isn?t all that far away. But that's for a totally different processor architecture. So far, we have already had the early P45-DQ6 and MSI P45 Platinum cross our paths. Today we are looking at another big wig P45 offering, namely ASUS' P5Q Deluxe Motherboard. Featuring its EPU6 energy saver, DDR2 and a wide array of features including Express gate, ASUS hopes to topple the likes of GIGABYTE and MSI. Let's see just how well it manages to perform.

Although wrought with numerous delays, ATI finally launched their long-awaited Radeon HD 4870 graphics card on June 25, 2008. As it was the first graphics card to feature the spanking new GDDR5 memory, much was expected of the Radeon HD 4870. Fortunately, ATI finally delivered what they promised their fans for years - NVIDIA-thumping performance at a competitive price point. While the saying is that you get what you paid for, I think you might get a little extra with the ASUS TOP 512MB GeForce 9600GT. While you could easily spend three, four, or five times as much to have the latest and greatest video card, if you are satisfied with "really good" performance and a fatter wallet in the end, the ASUS TOP 512MB GeForce 9600GT is a good choice.
