The HP Compaq 6515b Notebook PC might look plain on the outside but inside holds several surprises for those who are quick to judge a book by its cover.

For general computer work if you typically have lots of browsers and applications running at once a large display is fantastic. The 2560 x 1600 screen resolution allowed me to get eight appropriate sized windows on screen at once. Having three web browsers, Word, Photoshop, AIM, Live Messenger and remote desktop on screen at once save me lots of time normally lost to flipping back and forth between screens.

The mono office laser printer is still one of HP's core products and the LaserJet P3005x is a fast and versatile member of its latest generation. It comes as standard with duplex capability and two paper trays, each of which can take a full, 500-sheet ream of paper. This means you can set it up with letterheads and follow-on sheets, and still have a multi-purpose tray for special media, such as envelopes.

If you believe the SF movies, the future of human computer interfaces is all about 3D holodecks and virtual reality. We aren't there yet, but if the new HP TouchSmart IQ770 PC is any indication, some of us are taking small baby steps towards a world where the mouse and keyboard become obsolete.

When HP released the 20.1" L2045w widescreen LCD monitor, they categorized it as a business-level LCD monitor. This classification hints that the L2045w is a lower-spec monitor reserved for boring desk jobs and monotonous Office-suite use. HP is seriously underselling their own product. While the L2045w may not rise to the level of professional/studio quality monitors, it certainly stands tall amongst the consumer- and business-level competition with some very desirable features. Find out more about the L2045w's specs and why it might be right for you.

HP tries to pull a quick one on the consumer with their w22 22-inch LCD monitor. Featuring an attractive 5ms response rate and a 1680x1050 resolution, the positive energy stops there. Sure the $400 U.S. price tag is attractive, but as the old saying goes "If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is" and the w22 is certainly a testament to that. Find out why you need to forget this monitor ever existed.

All-in-one systems are nothing new; Sony, Apple, Gateway and even Dell all have systems that integrate the monitor and PC. But with exception to Apple's iMac, none of these systems have been particularly hot sellers. Maybe they were ahead of their time, or simply not powerful enough to be taken serious enough, after all who wants to spend money on a system that cannot last the test of time? With the wave of digital convergence upon us, it only makes sense that a home PC should leave the office and enter the family room where it can truly be used by everyone - it just has to look stylish enough to be show off. Enter the HP TouchSmart IQ770 PC, a truly powerful all-in-one entertainment system featuring an attractive touch screen display.

Low-profile rack servers have always been a top solution for enterprise level data centres looking to make the most out of their server room, as they offer a high processing density for a given amount of floor space. However, times move on and these very same companies have different sets of priorities now making blade servers a superior solution and here we take an in depth look at HP's latest BladeSystem c-Class.

HP's Vivera inks and scaleable print technology have together improved the print quality and reduced the cost of the company's ink-jet printers. The Photosmart D7160 is one of the latest beneficiaries and has a couple of other good features as well. Selling at around £80, it's surprising to see the range of facilities available.

Port layout is straightforward and well thought out. The left side includes three video output options: s-video, VGA, and HDMI. You'll also find a dock connector, gigabit ethernet, modem, two USB 2.0 ports, and one mini IEEE 1394 port. There's also an SD/MS/MMC/XD slot, but CF owners are out of luck. The front edge includes the activity lights, wireless switch, IR receiver, microphone input, and two headphone ports (one of which supports S/PDIF for surround sound system connection). The right side houses two more USB 2.0 ports, the HD-DVD/DVD±RW DL drive, and ExpressCard slot. An optional ExpressCard TV tuner is available during product configuration. The power adapter plugs into the right side and has a blue, glowing ring to indicate that there is power flowing through the cable.

HP makes a good range of All-in-One devices; it probably should, given that it practically invented the concept. The 6310 sits between the 5600 series and the 7210 series, targeting the SOHO market and including a networking connection, so its functions can be easily shared.

My first impressions of the nc6400 were rather negative, due to its rather drab, corporate appearance and indeed its specification - nobody needs a fingerprint or smart card reader for home use. However, after using the nc6400, I was quickly seduced by it's dull but worthy charms.
