ECS has had some pretty darn decent motherboards since their NForce 5 chipsets first arrived. Now that we're on to Intel Core 2 Duo, ECS opted to go for a more feasible LGA 775 motherboard built around the Bearlake P35 Chipset. Now, we all know the flagship P35 boards overclock very, very well and offer some excellent performance results. Scaling back the amount of features a P35 has to offer isn't a bad thing and often performs just as well minus top range overclocking, extra e-SATA ports, and elaborate heat pipe cooling.

So far we have already looked at the G33 chipset which contains the GMA3100 integrated graphics chip and makes itself quite a name in the business sector. Today we are taking a look at the basic end of the Intel Core 2 platform, the G31. Our first G31 candidate is the ECS G31T-M motherboard. ECS has always produced the best low-end boards you will ever see, as they tend to add in features whilst keeping their prices down. Their boards usually have some overclocking potential as well, so let's see just how well the G31T-M behaves today.

This article is quite brief. It is, so to speak, a mini-review of a rather peculiar graphics card. It draws attention, because despite being marked '8600 GT' it operates at increased frequencies. Mind you, its shader unit works at a whopping 1566 MHz! And as you know, an overclocked 8600 GTS card has shader unit working at up to 1440 MHz. This fact alone makes this graphics card very attractive. In addition, it has a noiseless passive cooling system, which is another peculiar feature.

ECS has released the ECS G31T-M as affordable Core 2 Duo motherboard which supports the latest Quad-Core and 1333 FSB CPUs at an affordable price of less than $75. In our testing we saw that performance is on par with much more expensive high-end motherboards. The integrated Intel VGA is also a nice addition because you don't have to buy a video card for your office machine or can use it to play back video in a Media PC.

Today at HotHardware, we have looked at two affordably priced Core 2 platforms based on the Intel P3x series chipset, to see if there were any major differences in terms of performance, features, and overclockability between the two. Representing the P35 Express, we have the ECS P35T-A, which retails for a little over $100 USD. In addition, we have the new Gigabyte GA-P31-DS3L representing the P31 Express. This new Gigabyte motherboard is currently selling for about 20% less (around $80 USD), making it one of the least expensive P3x boards currently on the market. Head on over to the site and take a look...

By releasing nForce 520 and 520LE NVIDIA has expanded its discrete chipset series "downwards". The board manufacturers have adopted these solutions to add ultra-light models to their product lines. In time such motherboards might occupy the lower-end parts of price lists, and thus correct the well-known issue of integrated boards being the cheapest. Now let's examine a board with almost the least functionality on the market, which nevertheless belongs to the ATX category.

Our friends at ECS are back with a performance board for the more budget conscious users. Based on NVIDIA's 650i chipset, the ECS NF650iSLIT-A offers much of the performance of its 680i brothers but with fewer tweaking features, smaller bundle, and of course, a lower price. Let's check it out!

ECS has released a new mATX motherboard based on the Intel G33 chipset, their model number G33T-M2 (V1.0). This motherboard offers a budget conscious solution for "ultra slim multimedia systems" that leaves a few of the G33 chipset's capabilities on the shelf for the higher priced boards to offer. It is not geared towards serious gamers and enthusiasts, but it also isn't a lightweight.

The ECS G33T-M2 motherboard proved to be a stable platform to build a system around and had solid performance numbers to go along with the stability. If you don't need any PATA drives then this Micro-ATX motherboard should fit the bill...

With the ECS P35T-A being a solid mainstream board we can only hope that ECS does something special with the Intel X38 Express Chipset to give the gaming enthusiast community something to look forward to! When the ECS P35T-A becomes available in the market it will offer the best price versus performance ratio of any Intel P35 Express boards on the market, but make sure it has the features you want as to get the price this low ECS had to trim some of the features off...

Over the past two years I've reviewed almost every board released by ECS, and during that time I've touted them as a great choice for those wanting a solid motherboard and great bundle for a modest price. After visiting with the folks from ECS at Computex, and touring their facilities in China, I had really high hopes for their future motherboards. While I've been a bit underwhelmed with their recent offerings, I've had to temper my disappointment with the understanding that ECS is not trying to compete with enthusiast board makers like ASUS, Gigabyte, and MSI, instead looking to bring performance boards to those who don't want to spend top dollar. When taken from that point of view, ECS has been extremely successful.

ECS P35T-A is based on the latest Intel mainstream chipset, P35. This motherboard, however, does not have DDR3 sockets but on the other hand it has some extra features like one eSATA port, six SATA-300 ports and two x16 PCI Express slots. Let's see the features and performance from this new ECS release.
