Apple: Dr. Dre Starring In New TV Series; New iPhone, iPad Coming in March
Friday brings two more news for Apple. The company is said to be producing an original TV series with rapper and producer Dr. Dre, and is also set to announce its next iPhone and iPad models on March 15. Dre, co-founder of Apple’s Beats Electronics, will star in and produce the series, called "Vital Signs," Reuters reported. It isn’t clear how Apple will distribute the show, with possible options to include the Apple Music streaming service, iTunes and the Apple TV set-top box.
The series will span six episodes and be semi-autobiographical, according to the Hollywood Reporter, which reported on Apple’s plans earlier Friday.
Apple released a tour documentary starring pop star Taylor Swift last year and is also exploring the creation of a live TV service.
Apple is also expected to introduce its next iPhone and iPad models on March 15, technology blog 9to5Mac reported, citing sources.
Apple will introduce a new 4-inch iPhone, dubbed the "iPhone 5se", and a new iPad Air at a launch event, the blog reported. Instead of releasing a smaller version of the iPhone 6s in order to appease potential customers seeking an iPhone with a screen smaller than 4.7 or 5.5-inches, Apple seeems to be upgrading the existing iPhone 5s that was first released in fall 2013.
Apple, declined to comment.
