Glacialtech Igloo 5610 Plus Silent
5. Final thoughts
The GlacialTech Igloo 5610 Plus Silent is an affordable product for entry-level users. Its strong points include the support for almost all currently sold cpu sockets (except the LGA 1156), its small dimensions and its quiet operation. After all this is what Glacialtech advertises this product about... The dual 92mm fan design is something that should improve overall air flow and hopefully the performance.
In out tests we found that the GlacialTech Igloo 5610 Plus Silent kept the temperature of the Core i7-920 10 degrees C lower than the Intel's stock solution, especially when the processor was overclocked. At stock voltages, the difference was only 4 degrees C. The emitted noise was not that high, but still higher than the Intel's stock cooler. Despite its low retail price, ( ~$21) we feel that the performance could be better, provided that we have to do with a dual fan CPU cooler.
Overall, the GlacialTech Igloo 5610 Plus Silent is a well-built, affordable product. If you are still on Intel's stock CPU cooler, then you may consider going for the Igloo solution. On the other hand, you should have in mind the competition is really strong even at this low price level, and some search could lead you to a more efficient product.
