- Pressed CD results (Click for CDSpeed results)
According to CDSpeed, the NEC drive confirms the manufacturer's specifications of 40x reading. In comparison with the Pioneer drive, the NEC was slightly slower reading our pressed test disc.
All the reported seek times for the NEC drive were quite good. Comparatively, the Pioneer had a very high full seek time at 295ms, being almost double that of the NEC.- CD-R results (Click for CDSpeed results)
We made a copy of the previous, pressed CD in order to test the drive's behavior with a CD-R media. Again there isn't a lot between the drives and the resulting speeds are very close to those of the test with the original pressed media above.
Here too the NEC ND-2500A had low seek times, a little higher than in the previous test, but still good. The Pioneer drive again returned a very slow full seek time.
- ReWritable Media (Click for CDSpeed results)
For the reading test we used 24x High Speed rewritable media from Mitsubishi Chemicals.
This time the NEC drive was slightly faster than the Pioneer in average and final speeds although there was little difference between them.
