Audio Capture 2000 lets you extract audio tracks from an audio CD right to your computer's hard drive. The extracted audio tracks are saved as WAV files, ready for use in Windows or for playing by MVP 2000 or any other digital audio player, and for encoding to formats such as MP3, Real Audio, etc. You can also use the files with sound editing software

Features

Track information: A Track Selection Window shows all necessary information about the source disc. You can double-click to capture an individual track, or select several tracks at once.

Choice of sound quality: You can select CD quality sound (44 kHz sampling, 16-bit stereo) or other quality levels. Audio Capture 2000 supports sampling rates of 44 kHz, 22 kHz, and 11 kHz, 8-bit or 16-bit resolution, and stereo and mono sound.

Error correction: Set error correction as needed to eliminate the pops, clicks, or hissing noise that can be caused by a poorly manufactured source disc, or one with scratches or oily fingerprints. Error correction can be set anywhere in the range from 0 percent to 100 percent. Manual says that enable it after you notice pops, clicks but i suggest have all time into 100%.

Special Feature: Error Correction

Plextor CD-ROM drives are well known for being able to read audio at high speeds, as if it were data (sometimes even up to 24X!). In most cases, the quality of the extracted WAV files is excellent, with no pops, clicks, or hissing noise.

However, if the source disc has scratches, oily fingerprints, or is badly manufactured, the drive may have read errors due to the quality of the disc. Such read errors could result in noisy or imperfect extracted WAV files. By changing the Error Correction setting in Audio Capture 2000, you can ensure high-quality audio in your WAV files, free of pops, clicks, or hissing noise. You can set error correction for anywhere from 0 percent (no correction, the default setting) to 100 percent ( Error correction is not available for Plextor CD-R and CD-RW drives).

It may not be possible to accomplish perfect audio extraction with some discs that have large imperfections. However, with Audio Capture 2000's Error Correction feature and one or more Plextor drives, you have the best possible chance to achieve a perfect recording.

Error correction affects recording speed as follows: When the error correction is set to 0 percent, the drive almost never slows down and will always extract audio at the highest possible speed for best performance. When error correction is set higher, the drive and the software ensure good quality; however, the techniques they use to achieve this quality cause the extraction to take a longer time to complete.

Verdict of application

The Audio Capture part is very good. You can select from 1 to many tracks to rip. You can also select the quality for the produced wav. The most important feature is the Error Correction Bar. This supposed to reduce (sound) error when ripping wavs. I must say it works quite good but not 100% good. I had 1 track that couldn't rip with EAC...(read the whole story here..) Also I must say didn't liked so much the interface. But this is just my personal opinion. Someone else might it find more good..
