3. Installation
Installing the CPU cooler requires several steps. be quiet! has an installation video online for both AMD and Intel, or you can simply read the included manual. Some basic steps are mentioned below:
be quiet! recommends pre-mounting the radiator and fans outside the case before final installation — sensible advice for any 360mm triple-fan unit where in-case clearance is tight.
AMD (AM4/AM5): Installation uses a screw-down retention frame rather than a tool-free clip. You remove the two plastic AM4/AM5 retention brackets from the socket, thread four spacer nuts onto the backplate, and choose a position when threading them: position "0" for general motherboard compatibility, or position "8" specifically called out for maximum cooling performance on Ryzen 3000/5000/7000/9000 chips — worth flagging since picking the wrong one could mean leaving performance on the table without realizing it. From there it's the usual short mounting brackets, thermal paste (pre-supplied via syringe, not pre-applied to the block), and screwing the pump block down evenly.
Intel (LGA 1851/1700/1200/1150/1151/1155): Similar structure — an Intel-specific backplate goes under the motherboard using O-rings to hold the backplate screws in place, then spacer nuts and mounting brackets go on from the top before the block is centered and screwed down. be quiet! is covering both the current 1851 socket and back through 1155, which is a wide compatibility net for anyone upgrading from an older Intel platform.
Fan mounting: Fans attach to the radiator on the hose side and daisy-chain to each other before connecting to the single cable running along the tubing — consistent with the "hidden cabling" pitch. Push configuration (fans pulling air through the radiator toward the case interior) is the recommended orientation.
IO Controller wiring: This is where the single-cable pitch gets a reality check — the IO Controller itself still needs three separate connections to the rest of the system: a 4-pin PWM cable to the motherboard (so the board doesn't throw a "no fan detected" warning), a USB 2.0 header for software communication, and a SATA power connector from the PSU. So "one cable" refers to the cooler-to-controller link, not a total cable count of one. The controller is magnetic and be quiet! suggests mounting it on the back of the motherboard tray, which is a nice touch for keeping it out of sight while still being accessible.
