Future Of Apple's Beats Music Remains Uncertain
It's been less than a year since Beats Music was bought by Apple and reports indicate that the future of the streaming music service or even the Beats Music brand is not clear. TechCrunch reported that Apple would eventually eliminate the Beats Music brand and even the Beats Music streaming service, although Apple said the report was "untrue" without elaborating further. The report added that that engineers from Beats music have been moved off the product and onto other projects at Apple, including iTunes.
It is true that Beats Music did not come pre-installed on the new iPhone 6 and 8 Plus, the report noted.
Regarding the on-demand streaming from Apple, it could easily take another form, possibly by folding into iTunes.
When Apple bought the Beats brand for $3 billion, Apple senior vice president Eddy Cue called Beats Music "the first music subscription service done right."
