MSI Prepares Dual-GPU GeForce 7950 GX2 Graphics Card

MSI Prepares Dual-GPU GeForce 7950 GX2 Graphics Card

GPUs May 5,2006 0

MSI will reportedly launch the MSI NX7950 GX2, a graphics card that will feature two GeForce 7900 graphics processors. French website clubic.com has posted some pictures of the new graphics card and suggests that it will be priced at 649 euros (taxes included), available in May. MSI has not confirmed this information yet.

The MSI NX7950 GX2 graphics card is expected to use two GeForce 7900-series graphics processors clocked at 500MHz along with 1GB of 1200MHz 256-bit GDDR3 memory).

Using two NX7950 GX2 cards on the same board could theoretically form a quad-GPU platform. Powered by NVIDIA, the Quad SLI technology offers gamers the possibility to enjoy playing at resolutions as high as 2560x1600 , while the supported 32x anti-alising and 16x anisotropic filtering settings promise the highest image quality.

However, it is not clear whether NVIDIA will support end-users to set up a Quad-SLI configuration (dual NX7950 GX2) in their PCs, with a public release of corresponding drivers. Currenlty, the Nvidia GeForce 7900 GX2 boards which support the Quad-SLI technology are not available in retail, leaving the quad SLI systems in hands of specific system builders only.
