Recordable DVD leaders set ISV meeting at Comdex

Recordable DVD leaders set ISV meeting at Comdex

General Interest Nov 5,2001 0

The Recordable DVD Council (RDVDC) today announced that it will host a half-day ISV conference on November 11, the Sunday prior to Comdex. Offered without a fee to all system, software and solution developers as well as industry analysts and members of the press, the conference will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Las Vegas Hilton, Ballroom D. DVD technology discussions will include all DVD Forum-approved recordable DVD formats - DVD-RAM, DVD-R, DVD-RW, and will span the complete range of audio, video and PC-based applications. "One of the primary goals of the Recordable DVD Council is to assist software and hardware vendors by promoting a better understanding of the three DVD Forum-approved recordable DVD formats," said council chairman Bon-Guk Koo, senior corporate advisor and former executive vice president of Samsung Electronics. "Products that are produced to the DVD Forum specifications have been enhancing the DVD experience of users for more than three years. Now it is our task to help businesses and consumers understand the benefits of these proven standards and their use in audio, video and computer devices such as DVD recorders, DVD drives, DVD cameras and other applications."

During the afternoon event, Executive Members of the Council will discuss in detail the current state of recordable DVD technologies, the resolution of drive/player compatibility issues, the state of copyright protection and the industry's international product verification program. Koo emphasized that since the meeting is open to all software and solution suppliers, companies and individuals wishing to attend should pre-register for the ISV Meeting because space will be limited..
