First Pictures of ATI's R520 Next-Gen Graphics Cards
The first pictures of what is claimed to be an ATI's graphics card based on the next-generation visual processing unit R520 has been posted over the Internet.
Websites TechPowerUp.com and HKEPC.com host some pictures of the highly-anticipated ATI R520 XT graphics card.
According to the pictures, ATI R520 graphics card is relatively long, compared to the company's RADEON X800-series, and has aproximately the same size of NVIDIA GeForce 7800 GTX products. The R520 XT is claimed to employ Samsung's GDDR3 1.26ns memory chips clocked at 1.40GHz.
According to sources, the R520 core is design with 32 pipelines but it will actually utilize less. Die size is at 16mm x 18mm and will support Shader Model 3.0 and Direct X 9.0c. Speculations indicate that the R520XT sample is will be clocked at 650Mhz core and support 512bit Memory internal bus but only 256biy controller.
Like the GeForce 7800GTX, R520 supports 2 Dual Link DVI outputs, Dual 400Mhz RAMDAC, Dual-Link TMDS transmitters and highest resolution at 2560x1600 32Bit@60Hz. On the PCB, there are ATI Rage Theater providing VIVO functionalities.
