Sony Q3 PlayStation 3 Sales Fall, Nintendo's Wii to Sell Less Next Quarter
Sony announced on Thursday that is sold less PS3 game consoles in Q3 of 2008, while Nintendo also changes its forecast for the sales of Wii.
Sony said on Thursday it sold 4.46 million units of its PlayStation 3 game console in October-December, down 9 percent from 4.9 million units a year earlier.
The company sold 5.08 million units of its PlayStation Portable handheld machine in the latest quarter, compared with 5.76 million units a year earlier.
Nintendo also said on Thursday it now expects to sell 26.5 million Wii game consoles in the year to March, down from its previous target of 27.5 million units. On the other hand, Nintendo raised its annual forecast for the DS handheld player to 31.5 million units from 30.5 million units.
