Some Sony TVs Get Support for PS3 Games

Some Sony TVs Get Support for PS3 Games

Consumer Electronics Jun 25,2014 0

Sony is widening the availability of its PlayStation Now game streaming service owners of select 2014 Sony TV models under a program called the Private Pilot Service. PlayStation Now currently offers gamers the chance to play PlayStation 3 games over the Internet?no physical disc or digital download required. The service is currently in a closed beta with a select number of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 users.

The service will be available on Monday, but Sony has yet to disclose which select TV models will support it.

The PlayStation Now for Sony Bravia will allow owners to play PS3 games without a console, using their TV's internet connection and a Sony DualShock 3 wireless controller.

However, Sony is charging TV owners for gaming. As Kotaku recently reported, to play Final Fantasy XIII-2, for example, gamers pay $5 for four hours of game time, or up to $30 for 90 days of streaming access.

PlayStation Now will be available as on open beta to all PlayStation 4 owners on July 31. It will also roll out to other devices during the open beta, including the PlayStation 3 sometime this summer, and later this fall the PlayStation Vita and PlayStation TV.
