Nikon sells High density 8cm CD-R "Stamper"
Following the new of 8cm CD-R media Nikon now sells this technology to media manufacturers:
"...There are many micron-level track lands and grooves on the surface of anoptical disc. Stamper is a master plate to be used in an injection molding process to duplicate the track lands and grooves in a precise manner. It is not too much to say that the quality of Stamper is directly related to the quality of optical discs. Therefore, micron-level precision is required. Photo-lithography technologies used at LSI production process are adopted. Stamper is a comsumable tools at a mass-production factory level and needs to be replaced. The consistency in quality across Stampers is essential for quality control in production of optical discs...." NULL
