MPEG LA Introduces License for DisplayPort

MPEG LA has made availabile the DisplayPort Patent Portfolio License, which covers technologies owned by Hitachi Maxell, Philips, Silicon Image and Sony. The DisplayPort License provides coverage for a variety of digital
interface technology standards used in connecting audio/video sources among products such as computer monitors, video projectors, televisions, adaptors, personal computers, graphic cards, motherboards, storage devices, smartphones, tablets, flat panel displaysand cameras.

Initial DisplayPort technology owners include Hitachi Maxell, Ltd.; Koninklijke Philips N.V.; Silicon Image, Inc.; and Sony Corp.

MPEG LA welcomes any party that believes it has patents that are essential to the DisplayPort standard to submit them for an evaluation of their essentiality by MPEG LA’s patent experts and inclusion in the License if determined to be essential.
