The addLink P30 1TB Portable SSD is a new proposal for users who wish to have ultra-fast storage in the palm of their hands, either for carrying files or simply backing up their favorite device (phone, tablet, laptop, digital camera). The specs are very promising with up to 4GB/sec reading and 3.6GB/sec writing, and in our tests, at least with the AMD Platform, we saw somewhat lower than specs speeds, which are always expected since promising speeds usually are under specific file sizes and systems. You can expect around 3.1GB/sec reading and 2.7GB/sec writing performance for single file operations, up to around 50GB per file. After that size, the device may drop speed down to 1GB/sec writing, which is enough for most users. With Intel-based systems, performance is expected to be higher and close to advertised speeds, due to better USB4.0 implementation.

Another great feature of the device is the fact that is magnetic powered, meaning it can stick to metal surfaces and mostly iPhone devices by using the included flexible Type-C cable backup and transfer files. At the retail package, there is also a magnetic ring included to stick to devices that don't have or support Magsafe standards, making the device truly universal. The build quality is top notch and the used exFAT file system makes the device also universal to PC/MAC/Linux and other possible operating systems (Android).

To summarize, we found the addlink P30 1TB Portable SSD a great product with great reading/writing speeds, good design, and external dimensions that should fit in your pocket for easy transportation and usability. The 1TB variation costs around $89, while the 2TB variation will set you back around $158, almost double the price. addlink does also mention a 4TB variation, which should be also exciting to test, even for now, isn't available for buying.
