ADS Technologies Announces USB Instant DVD

ADS Technologies Announces USB Instant DVD

Optical Storage Aug 13,2001 0

ADS Technologies today announced USB Instant DVD, the first consumer device that converts video from any analog video source to full resolution DVD format, then transfers the video to the PC. Users can import home movies or videos from a camcorder, VCR, DVD or laser disk, then edit and create their own movie projects and save as DVD, MPEG2, MPEG1, VCD or SVCD with included Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 and Sonic Solutions MyDVD 3.0. USB Instant DVD is scheduled to ship September worldwide at an estimated street price of US$229.

USB Instant DVD makes transferring and sharing video simple and convenient. Instant DVD imports video from a DVD player, laser disk player, camcorder or VCR to a PC via USB connection, then utilizes hardware-based MPEG-2 compression (the same format used in DVD movies) for smooth video at full 720 X 480 NTSC (720 X 576 PAL) resolution and stereo sound. USB Instant DVD and the included DVD-authoring application, MyDVD 3.0, can archive existing videos with real time burn to DVD-R or CD-RW. Users also can edit their video with the included video editing application Ulead VideoStudio 5.0 to create unique video projects.

``For the first time consumers can utilize MPEG2 technology at full resolution,'' said Mike McCoy, president of ADS Technologies, Inc. ``Compressing video to DVD format gives users the freedom to create or archive their movies at a smaller file size and easily share by means of the Internet, or burning DVDs, CD-Rs, CD-RWs or Video-CDs without sacrificing the quality of video or audio.''

USB Instant DVD will be available through ADS Technologies' network of online and retail channels worldwide September 2001 at an estimated street price of US$229.99. For more information, visit http://www.adstech.com.
