Akasa's New PI 4 Pro, a custom thermal kit for the Raspberry PI 4
Akasa, a global leader in computer hardware and cooling technology, has released the Pi-4 Pro, the newest fanless case for the Raspberry Pi Model B. With the announcement last month of the new Raspberry Pi 4 with 8GB of RAM, the Pi-4 Pro comes at an ideal time to complete your perfect computer, equipped with a modern design and powerful cooling for your RPi 4 of 2, 4 or an incredible 8GB of RAM. The Pi-4 Pro is made from black sandblasted anodised aluminium and features elegant minimalist cooling fins on the lid, which are connected to the RPi 4’s Quad core ARM processor via a custom thermal kit to ensure maximum heat dissipation without the noise, dust damage or need for maintenance that comes with an active case. The case will look great in any environment for whatever IoT Raspberry Pi project you decide to take on, be that a home theatre or media centre, games console or media server, and will subtly fit anywhere you need at the small size of 96 x 68.5 x 33.5 mm.
Full I/O Support
The Pi-4 has been designed to facilitate easy use of the RPi 4 and all its external connections, including the GPIO, USB 2.0 and 3.0, Ethernet and HDMI ports and a USB-C power supply. This makes the case suitable for any application of the Pi board, which also supports wireless LAN and Bluetooth 5.0, especially with the support for two 4K displays via the dual micro HDMI openings, which allows you to connect two monitors for maximum enjoyment and productivity. 4K supporting micro HDMI to HDMI cables can be found on Akasa’s website, alongside more Pi 4 accessories such as USB-C power adaptors and cables supporting VGA.
Optimal thermal performance
The Pi-4 comes with a customised thermal kit, designed to dissipate heat away effectively from the Raspberry Pi 4’s hottest zones to maintain optimal system performance and prevent your computer from throttling. The three hottest zones of the Raspberry Pi 4 are the processor, power regulator and USB 3.0 chipset; when the board is used and these areas start to heat up, the heat is transferred to the Pi-4’s external fins via two aluminium blocks, three thermal pads and thermal compound, where the heat is then lost to the environment. This allows you to extensively use all your RPi 4’s features including the high-performance quad-core processor, dual 4k video capabilities and up to 8GB of RAM without any worry of throttling.
Second model
Akasa has also released the Pi-4 in the range of Raspberry Pi 4 fanless cases, which has the same design but features a concealed Micro SD opening. This is perfect for commercial system productions where you can maximise security and reduce maintenance by eliminating unnecessary openings, such as smart building, digital signage and factory automation.
