AMD Released Fusion Media Explorer

AMD Released Fusion Media Explorer

Enterprise & IT Apr 10,2009 0

AMD released a beta version of its Fusion Media Explorer (FME), a new 3D browser designed to let users easily share multimedia files stored on their PCs with their social networks. AMD Fusion Media Explorer combines a user?s local media items, plus related online content from providers such as, Flickr, YouTube, and Microsoft Live. In addition, FME has Facebook integration which gives users even more options for posting or interacting with their favorite photos or friends? photos. All of this is managed by an integrated search engine.

FME allows users to find and view photos from your local hard drive, removable USB or SD cards, and online sources, such as Flickr, Facebook, and Microsoft Live. They can also View related photos and videos from some of these online sources, which pertain to what they are looking at in the main viewing area. The photos can be uploaded to Facebook or Flickr account with a simple button click.

FME also ahelps users find and listen to their favorite music with an integrated search engine or 3D Ribbon. An AutoDJ feature automatically queues up playlists from the same genre or artist that users are currently listening to. While listening, FME presents also related music videos or other clips.

The integrated seach engine also search on video, movie, or TV shows. FME will actually start playing multiple videos in the ribbon, while users browse, making it easier to find what they are looking for. The better the performance of the machine, the more videos FME can play simultaneously. Videos can be wathced in full screen or send to the integrated Mini player so users can surf the Web while they watch a movie. Related YouTube videos pertaining to the content users are currently watching.

FMEhas been developed for AMD's notebook platform technology, "Puma" and desktop platform technology, "Dragon." It will be provided free to AMD's customers, via download from www.amd.com, or in some cases may come pre-installed on select AMD-based systems.

If you are interested in giving it a try, a special build of Fusion Media Explorer can be found at www.amd.com/fmepreview. A public beta version of FME will be released in a couple of weeks, AMD said.
