ASUS Announces ET2301 AiO PC, PB298Q 21:9 Monitor

ASUS Announces ET2301 AiO PC, PB298Q 21:9 Monitor

PC components Aug 9,2013 0

ASUS today announced the ET2301 all-in-one desktop PC, and the PB298Q 29-inch widescreen monitor. The company also confirmed today that it will no longer produce Windows RT tablets. The ET2301 is an all-in-one desktop PCwith a 23-inch Full HD display that can be positioned at almost any angle for 10-point multi-touch control. Powered by a 4th generation Intel Core desktop processor, the ET2301 AiO PC features IPS display technology, ASUS SonicMaster Premium technology with an array speaker and desktop Intel Thunderbolt connectivity.

The ASUS ET2301 AiO features a cleverly designed stand, hinged at the top and bottom to allow the screen to tilt smoothly through 95 degrees. In an upright position, the screen is at the perfect angle for traditional desktop PC use with a mouse and keyboard; when folded flat, it sits almost horizontally for 10-point multi-touch control with Windows 8. The 23-inch Full HD display is LED-backlit and IPS technology and features the latest 4th generation Intel Core i5 and i7 desktop processors with across-the-board improvements in multi-tasking and energy efficiency. NVIDIA GeForce GT 740M graphics ensures high performance with the latest DirectX 11 games and NVIDIA 3D Vision technology adds a new dimension of enjoyment to games, movies, photos and YouTube videos.

The ASUS ET2301 AiO delivers virtual surround sound, without the clutter of desktop speakers, thanks to a powerful array speaker with internal woofer and optional desktop subwoofer.

Connectivity options incldue 802.11ac Wi-Fi, USB 3.0 and Intel Thunderbolt ports, while ASUS AiCharger II technology gives 50% faster USB recharging of smartphones and tablets, even when ET2301 is switched off.

The ET2301 also features exclusive ASUS technology for increased flexibility in households with more than one Windows-based PC. Device Share mode transforms the ET2301 into a desktop dock by making its multi-touch display, speakers and USB peripherals available for use with a notebook PC over a simple HDMI and USB connection. ASUS Ai Crosslink makes it easy to share files with other Windows PCs over a USB cable connection, too - no network required.

ASUS also today announced the PB298Q, a 29-inch widescreen monitor with an ultra-wide 21:9 aspect ratio and 2560 x 1080 resolution. The PB298Q features an AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance In-Plane Switching) display and 178-degree viewing angles. It has a narrow 0.8mm bezel design, rich connectivity options, ASUS-exclusive technologies, and an ergonomic stand with tilt, swivel, pivot, and height adjustments.

Video inputs include DisplayPort, HDMI, and Dual-link DVI ports, while audio can be played through built-in 3W stereo speakers.

With an 80,000,000:1 ASUS Smart Contrast Ratio and a 300cd/m² brightness rating, the ASUS PB298Q display delivers life-like visuals by adjusting backlight luminance to achieve the darkest black and the brightest white shades. The ASUS MultiFrame software lets users organize multiple desktop windows, arranging them in an orderly fashion where they don't overlap.

ASUS Splendid Video Intelligence Technology also ensures vivid colors in every situation, with its six modes activated using a designated hotkey. The PB298Q also comes with QuickFit Virtual Scale with on-screen guidelines for an actual-size preview of images prior to printing.

In related news, Asustek CEO Jerry Shen spoke to the Wall Street journal andconfirmed that his company will no longer produce Windows RT tablets.

"It's not only our opinion; the industry sentiment is also that Windows RT has not been successful," Shen told the Wall Street Journal Friday at a Taipei earnings conference.

Asus now makes the VivoTab RT tablet, which runs on an ARM processor. In the future, it plans to focus on Windows 8 tablets that run on X86 chips from Intel because those tablets have compatibility with older Windows apps that RT lacks, Shen said.
