At the front, you will find a big mesh with tons of airflow, the control panel at the top front side, and at the top another magnetic mesh panel as well. The build material is steel for side panels, 4mm tempered glass for the left panel, and ABS for stands, front panel, and top cover. The Shadow Base series is all about airflow and cooling, to reach the highest possible performance. In the Shadow Base 800 series, this is achieved by mesh panels in the front and top. The case offers a lot of space for air to flow around the components more easily. Anyone who wants to take their cooling to the next level finds enough room for up to 8 120mm or 140mm fans and large radiators. The possibilities are plentiful and extensive. For example, you can fit two 420mm radiators (A, front, and top) at the same time! In this configuration, the front fans need to be installed in front of the fan frame and the front radiator must not be thicker than 39mm.
If you would rather opt to install no radiator or a shorter radiator at the top (C), the maximum clearance at the front increases to 66mm, enabling push-pull configurations or even thicker radiators. On its own, the top radiator and fan combination can be up to 59mm thick before they bump into the motherboard.
Other examples include the excellent E-ATX motherboard support. The cable bar can be moved, so it can still be used with full E-ATX (305mm x 330mm) boards. Large 4-slot graphics cards can be installed both horizontally (the standard way) and vertically (with an optional riser cable), by turning the PCIe slots 90°. Whether the plan is a plethora of fans for maximum airflow or an elaborate water-cooling setup, the Shadow Base 800 series accommodates any requirement. Users can install a PSU up to 305mm without any bottom fan installed and up to 260mm with the bottom fan installed.
The top panel has the be quiet! logo and is installed via magnets
At the back, you will find the usual stuff. The PSU cage follows the design as with the previous be quiet! PC cases, meaning you have to first screw the PSU to the plate and then the PSU as the case.
Removing the side glass panel, you will see the front pre-installed 140mm fan and the mesh.
At the bottom, there is a lot of space and you can also install another fan.
At the back, there is another 140mm pre-installed and you will find a small box of accessories.
At the top, there is another 140mm fan pre-installed.
The case itself has a lot of free space inside to install not only ATX but also E-ATX motherboards! Users can also install up to 430mm of graphic cards with the HDD cage installed, if you remove it there is space even for longer graphic cards! The case can support up to 2x3.5" HDD drives (with up to 4 max) and 4x2.5" HDDs (with up to 8 max)
At the bottom, there is a full-size anti-dust filter.
The side panel has good insulation thickness
Removing the side panel, you will you more views about the possible cable management and free space. There is a ton of space even for big PSU and at the left, you can install HDD cages for up to 4x 3.5" HDD drives.
The pre-installed velcro cable ties will do the job very well, and be quiet! also offers more to make proper cable management if you wish.
At the top with the magnetic dust removed, we can see that there are many ways and rails to mount fans and radiators.
