Elite Group Systems (ECS) announces two new members of its Extreme motherboard family
The new RS400 and RS480 are based on the ATI Radeon XPRESS 200 chipset. The ECS RS400 supports Intel's latest LGA 775 Socket while the RS480 supports the revolutionary AMD Athlon 64 CPU.
The ATI RS400 chipset-based (also known as the ATI Radeon XPRESS 200) RS400-A motherboard supporting advanced FSB 1066MHz and Intel?s latest LGA 775 Socket and PCI-Express technology. With dual DDR2 and DDR 1 engineered in, ECS RS400-A users can enjoy the stability of Dual DDR1 and also experience the latest DDR2 architecture on one board.
The Radeon XPRESS 200 is ATI's DirectX9 integrated graphics platform which is based on the Radeon 300 The Radeon XPRESS 200 supports the newest PC architecture standard ? PCI Express? with the ability to send and receive data simultaneously at twice the speed of current AGP 8x solutions. The ECS RS400-A delivers an unprecedented, rich graphics experience.
Although ATI RS400-A does not support the AGP 8X interface, the ECS RS400-A can be easily upgraded on the VGA interface. With ECS?s patented AGP Express design engineered in, users can prolong the usage of the standard AGP 8X, while retaining the flexibility to experience the latest PCI Express platform. Better yet, users can benefit from dual VGA capabilities that enable dual graphic engines operations.
Paired with the ATI SB400 south bridge, the ECS RS400-A provides an integrated four-port SATA RAID controller and supports RAID0, 1, 0+1. Better yet, the ECS RS400-A?s an onboard LAN, four Serial ATA and eight USB 2.0 ports make the motherboard a convenient solution for networking and fast peripheral connections.
The ATI RS480 chipset-based RS480-M motherboard supporting the revolutionary AMD Athlon? 64 CPU to its premium Extreme family.
With an integrated DDR memory controller in the CPU, PCI-Express x16 interface and outstanding connectivity, the ECS RS480-M is capable of dealing with today's most demanding multimedia applications.
The graphics core of the ATI RS480 is based on Radeon 9600, which supports Microsoft DirectX 9. With the advanced on-board VGA technology, ECS RS480-M delivers an unprecedented, rich graphics experience.

The most important criterion in choosing a motherboard, in our view, is the performance and added value offered by the product. ECS meets this standard, coming away with outstanding results in most benchmark testing. This is especially true when gaming performance is a must.
