Google Discontinues The Meebo Bar
Google will retire the Meebo Bar publishing tool by June 6, as the company focuseson projects like Google+ Sign-In and plug-ins.
Meebo Bar is a JavaScript plug-in that enables a lot of different social interaction and sharing features.
Google laucnhed the Meebo Bar five years ago when it bought Meebo in 2012 for approximately $100 million, in order to to bring community, engagement, and revenue to publisher sites. However, the company recently launched Google+ Sign-In (which includes interactive posts and over-the-air app installs) and the Google+ plug-ins, which will replace the Meebo Bar.
Google is recommending that developers remove the inactive Meebo code from their site by June 6.
