Google Postpones Monday Event Over Hurricane Worries

Google's big Android event on October 29th has been camceled due to Hurricane Sandy, which is expcted to hit the U.S. East coast closely to the scheduled event. "We are canceling our Monday morning event in New York due to Hurricane Sandy. We will let you know our plans as soon as we know more," Google said in a statement.

Google has not set a new date for the event yet.

Rumors have it that the Mountain View, Calif., tech company would announce everything from a new phone to a new tablet. Let's summarize what we've heard so far.

A 10.1-inch version of the Google Nexus 7 tablet is expected to have a 2,560-by-1,600-pixel resolution with a density of 299 pixels per inch. The tablet is is said to run on a 1.7-GHz Samsung Exynos dual-core Cortex-A15 processor and include both a front-facing camera and a 5-megapixel rear camera.

The Nexus 10 tablet is also expected to have dual speakers and 16 GB of storage.

Also expected to be announced when Google set a new date to the event is a 32GB Nexus 7 tablet.

More likely to be announced is a new Nexus phone in partnership with LG. Rumors expected to be called the Nexus 4 and details for the phone were revealed on a pre-order page put online by British phone retailer Carphone Warehouse. According to the leasked specs, the Nexus 4 will have a 4.7-inch screen with a 1,280 by 768 pixel resolution and include an 8-megapixel camera. It will be powered by a 1.5-GHz Qualcomm quad-core S4 processor and Android 4.2.
