For checking exactly what the SOHW-832S reports, we used different media, burned by other recorders. These three media have been measured from the well known AudioDev SA300 DVD CATS system at 1X.

Since all LiteON drives report only PI/PIF errors, we will compare those measurements at various reading speeds:

• 3~8X CAV
• 2~6X CAV
• 4X CLV
• 1X CLV

Please note that the posted results are only valid for the specific tested SOHW-832S drive. Using other 832S drives can produce totally different results. Be aware!

The PIF error rate trend line looks like the SA300, however with totally different value levels.

With this test disc, all reading speeds 8X, 6X, 4X showed that at the end of the disc, the PI/PIF error rate increases. The SA300 system also measured similar performance. Its rather interesting that the 4X reading speed gave the "worst" results with the same trend line for PI/PIF errors but with higher values than the 8X speed...
