The Mad Box Is Said to be The Most Powerful Game Console Ever

The Mad Box Is Said to be The Most Powerful Game Console Ever

Gaming Jan 5,2019 0

The CEO of Slightly Mad Studios, the game studio that made Project CARS, is teasing with the release of a new game console, promising that the 'Mad Box' will be the "most powerful console ever built."

In a series of Tweets, Ian Bell revealed the purported console's design for the first time. As you see below, it looks like a gaming-PC tower with aggressive lighting and a case bent into an M shape.

Bell said that the console will be powerful enough to output games in 4K, it will play virtual reality games at 120 frames per second (90fps per eye) and will also support most major VR headsets.

The Mad Box has a one press deployable carry handle, weighs "very little" and will "talk" to other Mad Boxes without cables, he said.

Slightly Mad Studios will offer all independent game developers a cross-platform, 'almost one click export' engine to allow them to deploy their games on PC, Xbox, Playstation and Mad Box. Bell said that porting time would be minimal for those that have their own engine, and that the engine would be totally free.

He wouldn't say when he expects the console to be available, or the final specs. "We have multiple investors already offering the required funding for us to see the product to completion," he told Variety earlier this week.
