New Tizen Device Coming in India
It looks like Samsung's efforts to release a Tizen phone continue, and after July's failure to launch, Tizen comeback will begin in November in India.
A new report in The Economic Times of India, Samsung will release a budget device in India this November.
Tarun Malik, Samsung's media chief for southwest Asia, said that his company has "a few more offerings in the pipeline over the next couple of weeks," including a new Tizen device, which will coexist with the Android devices.Tizen is a Linux-based mobile operating system under development by a mobile firms led by Samsung and Intel.
But last July, Samsung failed to launch the Intel-based Samsung Z phone in Russia.
Last month Samsung launched a Tizen-powered smartwatch, the Samsung Gear S.
Samsung is currently India's top smartphone maker, with roughly one fifth of the market, according to the IDC's global smartphone tracker. However, Microsoft's Lumia Windows Phones are also gaining in popularity in the world's second biggest market and Google just its Android One series of budget smartphones, which launches in the Indian market in the next month.
