SEL Showcases 1058ppi And Foldable OLED Displays
Japanese Semiconductor Energy Laboratory (SEL) showcased at the Display Innovation 2014 trade show in Japan, a an OLED display that can be folded in three as well as an OLED display with a super-high resolution of 1058ppi. SEL's 8.7-inch foldable display has a 1,080 x 1,920 pixels and resolution of 254ppi. It is just 100μm thick, weighs less than 6g and its aperture ratio is 46%.
The 2.8-inches OLED display prototype has 2,560 x 1,440 pixels and a super-high resolution of 1058ppi.
Both OLEDs use a top-emmision OLED element, offer touchscreen functionality and uses a color filter and white OLEDs.
The Display Innovation 2014 was held from Oct 29 to 31, 2014, in Yokohama City, Japan.
